A shutdown Joe wouldn't solve the problem. There's no way you'd get everyone to adhere to a shutdown, especially those most likely to pose a risk would probably carry on regardless. Even if everyone complied with a shutdown, it would solve zilch because the problems would still exist afterwards. What you're suggesting is as ridiculous as saying that because there are x number of deaths on the roads no-one should drive for 30 days, it wouldn't make any difference at all as after 30- days you'd still have drivers who don't drive carefully.

Not meaning to fan the flames by pouring gasoline on a situation but people here should really take note that the porn industry is still relatively a safe place when you comapre it to the cold world out there running rife with STI's and Hepatitis is also on the increase. Chlamydia is the big one running round wild for one simple reason. All those horny boys and girls going out clubbing tonight and getting all fruity in the club toilets and back of cabs all confident that they havent got anything.
Any good doctor will tell you that the last person you slept with you may as well have slept with everyone they slept with. Thats how high the risk is.
No matter what anyone says, I still feel a sense of irony that the porn industry, while considered the place most likey to catch something is also the place least likely.
Lets hope a lesson of vigilance can be learned from this at the very least. Mudslinging and paranoid feelings aside I think its time we brought an end to this thread don't you think?

Was an article about STd's in the Metro Newspaper (the one you get free at train stations) i think on Tuesday this week.
The big increase is due to delays getting an appointment at NHS clinics
NHS clinics in my area have upwards of 6 week waiting times, therefore i guess somewhat a vicious circle has developed as the longer it takes to get tested the more chance of passing something on to someone else.

No Martin, its the people that think they have nothing and that diseases is what other people get and arrogance/ reluctance to get tests done.
If the porn industry ran the same way we'd all be well and truly fucked.
I never bother with the NHS as you'd be closed to death if not dead before you get through their waiting list.
No one would work in this industry if it was all down to waitng lists like the NHS. Thats how I see it anyway.

Re: A big problem in the adult indsutry at the moment
and in many cases you'll never know anyway until the symptoms start,if there are any symptons that is
What are the symptoms?
Many women infected with gonorrhea have no symptoms. If symptoms occur, they appear 2 to 10 days after exposure to the disease
I see this debate ending the way all others have
All down to working with those where MUTUAL RESPECT & TRUST are apparent
As a few wise heads have repeatably said,
"this is porn, its a risky business"
Thats REALITY,Accept it or move on to another line of work
When you read the list of stds and their apparent non-symptoms its easy to see why
cheers

I retired when I sadly realised nobody wanted me!
