Those prices are a bit steep but if you know the right people you can get them a bit cheaper, though I know most of the girls there I could get them down in price without agency fees but like I said, it depends on who you know. I actually aplaud these guys and girls for putting their fees up in one way because surely it will have a knock on effect and let us - the people who make the stuff put our fees up and thus surely it will make all the tight arsed distributors do the same. There is a reason why a first-timer with a camcorder they bought half an hour ago from Dixons can sometimes produce stuff more erotic than an American mega-bucks production - and it's the performers.

Some performers are good at getting horny, some are good at faking it and some are... well not good at either.

Ultimately this is a people business, and getting the best out of the people in it is not the same as working with actors in mainstream productions.

But that dawns on most people after the first ten minutes of their first shoot!

I don't agree Dave. The shiester distributors will fuck us over what ever happens.As producers we are stuck in the middle, these models screwing us on one side and the distributors on the other. In fact you could say we are being DP'd!

Also I think the "porno cartel" models are actually trying to drive other models out of the business. Remember it was they who started the 4 week HIV cert business, they whispered the idea and got others to instigate it, not for health reasons, but merely to make it more difficult for new models to keep working. Can you remember how silent all those who shouted for the 4 week HIV rule were, when we heard a couple of months ago about the poor model diagnosed with HIV at Charing Cross? I remember the whole thing was shoved under the carpet very fast.

They are trying (in vain) to make the business exclusive to themselves.

I can't tell whether you are serious or joking. Surely you of all people Dave, know that our fees are not going to go up and even if it does, it's only marginally. The average dvd sells for ?20, I sincerely doubt with the availability of so much product that distributors will increase the prices because it will be difficult getting the shops to step in line.

If you really want to raise the prices make something a bit more specialist and exclusive like femdom or spanking tapes. I never knew why they got more money for it but their fan base seems prepared to pay it.
