I would like to know what the french word "fantasmes" means....i find it in many titles.
Does it mean "ghost"?? If so, I can't understand why.....

The Laroussse dictionary defines it as "image faisant partie d'un reve..." In essence "fantasies" (also spelled phantasmes)

I was wrong because of the italian word "fantasmi" , same sound but different meaning (ghost)

Hi,
"Fantasmes" should be understood as secrets desires, un-acomplished wants; I mean when a "fantasme" is done, it's no more a "fantasme" .
Commonly associated with sexual desires, i could be extrapolated to others secrets desires .
The root is surely the latin basis, so the confusion with italian word fantasmi (in spanish is it fantasmas ? in romanian ?)
Every people would like their "fantasmes" become reality .... (so a french idiot proverb "Ne prends pas tes fastasmes pour des realit?s" .....)
