Re: Age old Guitar Hero poll
Seen him a couple of times.
You don't know whether to close your eyes and float away with his music or just watch in awe at his playing.
There's many like him too. Check out Jon Gomm. But he sings too.
And for the older generation what about Stanley Jordan. He did a mental version of Eleanor Rigby on the Tube on Channel 4 about thirty years ago. Greta style.
I could go on all day..............................................

As I said this topic is as broad as long. Ask a pop fan and they will say Noel G, ask a musician and you will get a name you need to look up on You Tube!

Anyone mentioned Duane Allman yet?
Mind you, I love the bluesy rock stuff so maybe I'm biased but to me his guitar playing sings to me.

I used to spend a lot of time criticizing Islam on here in the noughties - but things are much better now.

Pete Townshend.
But I'm a Who fanatic so maybe I'm biased.

Have to agree with Arginald, it does depend in which decade you grew up.
My list is easy:
Father son and holy ghost - Beck, Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), Hendrix.
Listen to the new Hendrix album People, Hell and Angels!
What Hendrix may be doing today had he lived can only be conjecture - Beck however continues to play, to improve and to innovate. If you lived here in the USA you'd have seen a lot of him on TV in the past 12 months: and seemingly with President Obama in the audience.
Add to those in no particular order:
Duanne Allman
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Chuck Berry - let's face it he wrote most of the original signature RnR riffs
Carlos Santana
JJ Cale - Clapton copped a lot of Cale's songs and used his licks - Cocaine, Lay down Sally, Tulsa Time

If you have 2 hours to spare this is the ARMS concert at Madison square Garden in '83. Check out Andy Fairweather Low, he toured with Clapton on the Unplugged tours, no mean guitarist himself.
