I've recently updated some XP & Vista computers to IE9, worst bloody mistake ever. Vista would NOT boot past login following a reboot, & XP Style/Theme was completely screwed up, like old '95, half the drivers wouldn't load & other such. Soon as I uninstalled IE9, started working perfect again.
DO NOT trust IE, EVER.

Have you checked for Virus/Trojan/Work etc?
