I also hate Scousers, does that make me a racist? Not a chance!
Mike is correct, football banter is all it is, even if its near the knuckle at times.
I know Spurs fans who are black, and don't mind being labelled Yids or 4 be 2's (Jews) as its part of the culture.

And I know Jews who don't like the 'Yid Army' association. Maybe you should explain to them that it's just 'football banter'?

If they're Spurs fans, they accept it, even through gritted teeth, just like Chelsea fans having others call us Chelski etc, we grin and bear it

The point is Bob,that Abramovich actually funds Hiddink's wages,so effectively he owns Hiddink's contract, not the Russian FA.So Abramovich could take Hiddink to Chelsea 'if' he wanted to.But like i said before,i doubt we'll wait till the end of Euro 2008 to appoint a new manager, which leads my thinking to Rijkaard,Mancini or Eriksson getting the job.

Pini Zahavi will have alot of influence in the new appointment, and he is closely linked to Sven.Mancini's lack of Champions League pedigree might hinder his chances.

We need to get it right this time.A manager that will warm to the fans.A manager that will get the respect from the players.A manager that knows the Premiership inside out.A long term manager.

Only one man for me.Mark Hughes !thumbsup!Bob Singleton wrote:

Mark Hughes is a good choice, however, there was some rancour when he left us to go to Southampton. Vialli promised him a free transfer after our European sucess, but Batesy wanted money.
Sparky left with a bit of a sour taste in his mouth, and I believe it is one of the reasons he sends his Blackburn side out against us to inflict pain, just think of Robben a few years ago, got stamped on and had his foot broken.
Maybe he'd say bollocks to Chelsea? I think he's sniffing the Man Utd job long term

While it's true his move to Southampton may have left a bitter taste, I think Mark Hughes is intelligent enough to realise that Chelsea under Bates and Chelsea under RA are two different clubs. I also don't think he sends his team out against Chelsea, or indeed any other club, with instructions to deliberately hurt players! Blackburn play a hard, physical style of football when necessary, but also play a very attacking style too... two strikers and two wingers. I think against certain clubs he tells his players to make life uncomfortable in the hope that those who can easily switch from unplayable to liability (Drogba and Rooney, for example) have their threat nullified.

While SAF has said he won't "groom" a successor, it seems fairly obvious that if/when asked for his opinion, he'll put Carlos Queiroz forward as his preferred choice to succeed him (after all, he gave him a glowing report when Real Madrid came sniffing, and it's no coincidence that Man U's form dipped when he wasn't there). While I'm sure Hughes has an eye on Old Trafford, he'd also be up against Roy Keane plus other, better experienced European managers. If offered the Chelsea job, would he really turn down the chance of proving himself at a higher level?

If you believe the Red Tops then Rijkaard as good as,has the Chelsea job. He's already planning to bring Eto'o and Ibrahimovich(Inter Milan) to Stamford Bridge.

Jose is odds on to take the Inter Milan job, with Mancini expected to leave this week.

If this article is reliable maybe they ought to review the amount of money which goes out to pay-off contracts. ?12 million to Jose Mourinho and ?5 million and counting to Avram Grant. Don't know what the position is with Clarke and Ten Cate if they're relieved of their duties .. what kind of contracts do they have ? Maybe Chelsea can afford it but surely it's not good business? I know contracts get paid up elsewhere, but these are large sums.
