As far as I know, it was only shown the once on telly (ITV, I think), and isn't available in Britain on DVD.

Superb stuff. However, Susan Hill hated it, and as her and various other parties own different rights to it, don't expect a release or a repeat anytime soon. It had a brief VHS release in this country, and a DVD release in Canada (I think). Ebay, perhaps.

btw - If you don't already have it, Kneale's early seventies fightener The Stone Tape has become available from the BFI's DVD collection. Never seen it myself, but it looks intriguing and has a solid reputation.

The sound quality on The Stone Tape is pretty poor, and the effects are nowhere near special----but it is still a fine piece of work, with a great cast.

Thanks for the info on The Woman In Black, TLW. Ms Hill's website isn't terribly helpful on the film, but a check of the reviews on IMDB shows just how many people were severely spooked by it.

Just watched a replay of the excellent 1990 Ken Burns film, "The Civil War", about the War Between the States. Has that ever been shown in the U.K.??
Also, an outstanding historical series was "Battlefield",about WWII, which I think was a British production (Polygram?? Did they do documentaries??).
