The Sweeney is without doubt, the BEST TV show made. Not one weak episode.

Plenty of excellent others, but Sweeney, for me, has no equal

EARLY Minder was excellent before it turned into The Arfur Daley show with comedy and silly dodgy deals and 'Her indoors' being mentioned in every episode.
Check out the first 3 series for decent action and some very dodgy un-political correctness

Malcolm in the Middle is great if only because it doesn't portray the stereotypical US family. Its very funny too.

Of my generation: Father Ted.

Most of the stuff submitted by you guys is admittedly superb, but are progs which were viewed in retrospect by myself, as opposed to first-time-live-viewing. I couldn't exactly gas about The Sweeney on the playground with my mates as a tot- Knightrider was what i got!

Another candidate- Only Fools and Horses; yeah, another comedy, but it was many other things at the same time- capturing both the highs and the lows of life. Quite brilliant; almost life-affirming.

The Shield stands head and shoulders above anything else.

First series of NYPD Blue was excellent, as is any CSi -Miami episode


Nothing else grabs me that much aside from those

British TV has produced some classic comedy.
Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Alan Partridge, The Office.
Truly excellent stuff.

Soap I have fond memories of, although latterly it was in danger of turning into a real one.
