Re: The reality of racism
Good points Richas. I think we should take the French rute and ban all religous outfit from schools nd public buildings. If you want to be religuos do it in your own home or sanctury.
Re: The reality of racism
Deuce none of my points are based on the media. I barely take notice of it. They are observations based on my own experiences, and very close relationships with people from different cultures. My closest freinds I have grown up with are asain and carribean, and my wife is the daughter of immigrants. It's a fact the muslim populatiuon does feel torn between loyalty to Britian and other muslims, many of whom are sworn enemies of britian. My own freinds tend to enjoy living in the west, but feel a kind of guilt complex for doing so, because at the end of the day the way we live is totally incompatibale with Islam, even if 'the media' tries to tell people it's just the extremists with a problemn. It's not. You only need to read the koran to see that. Thats not to say that every muslim therefore is a potential suicide bomber, but most feel a conflict between being a muslim and living in the west.
I think if you took a poll most people in Britian feel descriminated against, white, black, asain and everyone else. We all feel theres another group or groups we are not part of that's having it better. Anyone who claims that isn't so obviously doesn't get out much. It's that which worries me. If we were a united society, and everyone was equal that wouldn't be the case. I just don't think 'confederations' ever work, especially when theres huge differences between culture, language and religion. People need their own countires, space, and repect, and in mixed societies everyone tends to feel they're not getting that on all sides.

Re: The reality of racism
I'm not so against that, because wearing the hijab is part of their religious duty. But I am against seperate schooling because I fail to see how segregating muslims in their own school, so they have limited or no contact or understanding of the wider society they live in, and vice versa can be any good. It's furthering the distance, building states within a state. Thats not mutliculturalism thats segregation. I think the one thing that stops most people being racist is having freinds from other cultures and growing up with them..having some understanding of eachother and something in common. If i'd gone to an all white school..I fail to see how I could have any understanding of muslims. I'm against all 'faith' schools, jewish, roman catholic or whatever. If our children arn't being educated together and taught from the same books we are simply building a future of even more division.

I am coming to the end of my 12 week stint with the Princes Trust, based @ Huyton Fire Station.
This is not far from where he was killed, and apparently the pub where he was first racially abused, is the arse end of the universe.
There are people on my team who knew this murdered boy and they cant believe what has happened.
My thoughts go out to his family

Re: The reality of racism
If the black man makes racist comments to the white man and his black girlfriend then goes away to find some black mates with an axe and they return to murder the white man - then, yes, it would be treated as a racist killing.
Why does the fact that all of the available evidence points to this crime having a racial motivation make you complain about "do-gooders" rather than racists?

'because at the end of the day the way we live is totally incompatibale with Islam'
I think you could probably substitute Islam for most faiths, western ideals seem to embrace accumulation of wealth, divorce, sex before marriage, contraception . All totally against the Catholic faith for example, but I can guarantee most Catholics ignore those teachings

Re: The reality of racism
At the end of the day anyone who devotes their life to Islam and feels it supersedes their nationality and it becomes the driving force in their lives, simply shouldn't be here.
How to get rid of them is the main difficulty ... maybe revoking the citizenship of any who indulge in crime, including new laws of inciting others to train/prepare etc. for terrorism or expressing extreme views against western culture in sermons at mosques.
Then for the ones who don't feel comfortable here anymore, a leaf out of Holland's book (with people from Suriname/Aruba/Curacao) ... buy them a one way ticket 'home' and give them a few thousand pounds to help them resettle.
Couple that with a much stronger EU wide set of immigration rules that keep Muslims out, I think it needs to be all because of the incompatible lifestyles and a different mindset. Also, a stop to Turkey ever entering the EU and economic sanctions and withdrawal of aid from developing countries with fundamentalist regimes.
Also not sending any more tourists to places like Turkey, Egypt and North Africa would be a start.

Re: The reality of racism
Absolutely yes. I'm sure they feel the same kind of constant guilt my muslim freinds do too, always not so far from the mind. Guilt and Roman catholicism is almost synonymous! I didn't at all mean to imply Islams an isolated case there, it is a problem in all religions.
Just the difference is when a catholic decides he wants to leave sin behind became 'reborn or'devout' it doesn't involve moving countries or changing your national affinity. The muslim lads I think enjoy the drinking, women money etc, but like most people when they get burnt out or things go wrong, or they just mature, they put that aside and Islam tend to comes to the forefront. Because that is conforming and is what pleases there parents, and the rebelliousness of youth doesnt last forever.
Now unlike catholics they don't tend to blame that on their own weaknesses but tend to blame it on their surroundings, i.e living in the heart of the 'infidel' west, modern day sodom and gommorah den of sin. Alot of the young muslims also have had to put up with racism, and are aware they are not wanted here or though of as British by a great many of their 'supposed'fellow countrymen, and feel bitter at this, and the way there family are treated. They contrast this with trips back to pakistan where they ARE treated equally as brothers, and DO feel like they belong. I guess many feel there parents were wrong ever leaving. I can totally understand that in a weird sort of way.

Not necessarily.
I speak from personal experience.
A relative of mine and her boyfriend were attacked one night as they walked home from work by a gang of Asians. The guy was sprayed with CS gas, beaten with a panel beater's mallet and knifed three times with a Rambo-style knife. Only this murder weapon was much bigger. It was driven into his throat and came out of the back of his head, which gives you some idea.... Anyway, he was dead in seconds and kicked and beaten as he lay in the road. My relative was lucky in that she legged it and was rescued by a passing patrol car (yes, they do exist).
And when it came to trial, there was no racial angle mentioned at all. Not until AFTER the verdicts were returned, when the judge told the three men convicted that they had, without doubt, gone out on a hunting trip to find any white victim they could. The case wasn't prosecuted as a racial murder in case the jury were influenced NOT to convict. This despite the killers being taped talking in detail about what they did that night.
Weird really. This was a racially motivated murder of shocking brutality, yet there was no national news coverage for days on end to highlight the crime, Doreen Lawrence didn't turn up on our doorstep to voice her concerns about the racist killing and basically nobody wanted to know.
Double standards apply to race crime.
Having ranted all that, my thoughts go out to the family of the young man, as I know the effect such crimes can have on people only too well.

Re: The reality of racism
The fact that your mixing with immigrants of different race religion etc peacefully just proves that multi-culturalism,does work
The only enemies of Britian are the extremists
Islam might disagree with the way the West Lives but its not going to Invade to change our ways now as many of us paranoid whites think
I'm still waiting for you to answer the first question about already exisiting one religion schools or is it your just against Muslim only schools but your OK with the mainly white christian/jewish one religion schools that already exist?
I will re-iterate the point after school,so called segregation stops
When we have seperate Public Toilets for Christian & Muslims then you can use the segregation word
cheers
