The 36 is the Inches taken around the body, directly below the breasts. The DD however, is the measurement taken around the body, across the breasts. The differance in Inches = the Letters, starting with 1 Inch differance = A Cup, 2 Inch differance = B Cup, etc etc etc.

An Ex-G/F of mine had to go for a fitting, she had extra large Breasts & i watched the Woman at the shop perform the Measurement, & the woman told me how it is all worked out, LOL.

But doesn't that make it very subjective and doesn't it depend on the size of your hands?
I'm all for a Commission of Enquiry on this very important International issue. I'm not otherwise occupied at present and I would be happy to make myself available for a modest fee. I couldn't afford more than a $100NZ though.
