Re: Does birthplace effect nationality?

It depends... Each country has its laws. In France, for example every individual born in the country is reputed to be French. That's they call "droit du sol". In Germany and, I think, in Switzerland, it's the parents nationality that counts ("droit du sang"). Please, correct me if I am wrong. C.

Susannah York

Susannah York died just a month ago. There were a lot of obits in the media but I could find nothing about her resting place. Would anybody have information on that matter? I'd like so much to bring her some flowers when I come to London. Thanks.

Re: Maria Schneider dies at 58

Less than 3 weeks after Susannah York, another icon of the 60s/70s - though not quite of the same magnitude - passes away. 58 is much too young to die. Cancer once more shows its ugly face. Farewell, Maria.

Re: For Labour supporters - it aint all bad!

Dear Labour Supporters, I'm afraid you've it up the arse, and very deep. Nevertheless, you might be right. Should the new government be as true as its words, it could become shortly very impopular. There's a whole problem with most of European countries by now. K?nzlerin Angela Merkel lost an ...

Dean Swift, to jj

Hello jj. Though I appreciate very much your knowledge and sense of humour, I think that you're for once missing your point. Swift's story about "Big-endians and Little-endians" did not concern the differences between nations, races etc. He wanted to make fun of the theological controversies which ...

Re: Gynekologen

Thank you jj. You're one of the best. I knew it would be difficult. I am mainly interested in the long-haired blonde who plays the second assistant to Nobili, after he fired Stephanie Silver/Stepankova. I rather like this girl. She's not a stunning beauty, her nose being a little too long, but seems ...

Gynekologen

I have some problems with this movie. Is that the original title? It was obviously shot in Prague, but the director "Mark Lander" (Maurizio Lucidi according to IMDb) and the male leads are Italian. The girls have czech sounding names. It was easy to ID Stephanie Silver/Renata Stepankova as the doc's ...

London Marathon

I watched the London Marathon this morning. It's always such a pleasure. I knew that Paula Radcliffe, whom I like very much, suffered a toe fracture. Surfing the Internet for information, I read that she was once seen peeing or even defecating in public. I saw a few clips, showing her stopping and ...
