Hello there,
I retired from the industry ten years ago and I've been fired from at least two jobs because I was recognised. The time has come for me to do something about this as I can't sit by as this happens to other people.
I'm working on a couple of projects with the goal of raising awareness and changing legislation so that it protects the people it bloody well taxes.
If you've experienced anything similar to this, or know of somebody who has, I'd welcome your input as there is strength in numbers. People are horrified when I tell them what happened to me as they don't realise that it's completely legal, let's come together and make it harder to ignore what we're asking for.
I want to reassure you that I'm not going to misrepresent anything that's said, my only agenda is to make a difference. I've been in contact with a Green Party peer, who was appalled that this shit is allowed to happen.
You can email me with your experience here: HappenedToMeToo@outlook.com just let me know if you'd like to remain anonymous.
Join with me, and let's create an almighty fucking ruckus!
Rachel x
PS I tried to find forum rules to check if it's OK to have an email address in posts, but I couldn't see them anywhere

Try to find and contact Sally Taylor. She had at least two problems with employers. Great loss to the industry.

Good luck with this. Please keep us up to date with developments.
Everyone believes that employment laws have made it bordering on impossible to discriminate against anyone but there is nothing to prevent an employer from discriminating against an individual based on any of their former occupations. Most application forms will have clauses saying you may be dismissed or subject to disciplinary procedures if you are found to have lied about anything but the same clause seems to be used as a bit of a catch-all and especially when combined with the usual requirement to "account for gaps in your employment history".
It's ridiculous that someone who has consented to being filmed performing sexual acts for others entertainment and has paid the required taxes on their earnings is less protected than say a convicted burglar whose conviction will be deemed to be spent and therefore not have to be declared after a certain length of time.

Thank, and I certainly will.
That's the thing that galls me the most in way; that someone who has raped children has more legal protection than I do.

It says more about how far Britain is still behind the rest of the world in accepting sex work as legitimate. In Europe no one would care and many of the big name US performers also have mainstream business interests. Did your formers employers give you reasons for sacking you and if so, how stupid were those reasons. I'm guessing "it's not compatible with the image we want to present to our customers/partners/associates" might be in there. But that implies that those would also be familiar with everyone's past employment.

Good luck with this project. You deserve to succeed. I?m disappointed to hear of your experiences - and those of a sally Taylor. I think she?s based in Derbyshire but can?t offer any more help than that. Sorry.

I?m sorry to hear this. It happens to alot of girls unfortunately.
Andrea Clarke was fired from Thomas Cook
Sammy Marshall was fired from Land Rover.
Sammy Jessup was fired from Virgin Atlantic
Louise Hodges was fired from Estee Lauder and so on.....
All I can say is it?s their loss.
Unless you get back into the business and sell second hand porn mags like Teresa May! (might be a bit sticky)
Anyway good luck in the future
Hope you get it sorted out soon
Regards
