Timewasters

Post by KatyMoore »

This is a conversation starter, not a gripe.

I have been "on the scene" nearly 2 years now. 99% of my work through Purestorm, which is fantastic. Once a job is booked through PS (touch wood) I have never had a cancelation and indeed, if you look at my profile, I have NEVER cancelled either, or done a "no show".

Since joining BGAFD, and each time I post, I get a lot of interest asking me for my rates, levels and gaps in my diary. This tends to lead to a booking with date, fee, location and levels sorted which THEN tends to lead to the person who has booked me cancelling. I had another one last night. The shoot wasn't booked for a week or so but I am noticing an increase of this happening through this forum.

Any comments anyone?

Any advice?

Anyone else had the same prob?

hun unfortunately its par for the course in this job ive had that happen more times to me than i care to remember which in turn makes me question every job offer i get thinking that the person whos booking me is potentially a timewaster
its really annoying but its not just the models it hapens to its the photographers as well ive had quite a few photographers ive worked with say about timewaster models so i can work both ways
it is bloody frustrating though

Thanks for the input! Glad it's not just me! A lot of the people I have worked for have talked about no-show models but it seems its the same on the "other side of the camera" too!

Hi Katy.
You have to remember that this is a place for more than just industry people so there will be some on here who are just going to enjoy the free chat with a model and who never intend to book you at all.
Tori is right in saying that it works both ways too - it certainly does... but I think for a whole range of different reasons.

One thing to note though - neither you or Tori have any kind of picture/gallery or profile link either in your post or in your profile!
I'm not amazed at this but it's definitely interesting to note that images are what run through the veins of this business and as models you really need to attend to that to maximize your work potential!
Always, always add a picture or a link to a profile.
Regards,
Daz.

What Ugly Daz said.

I think those get a thrill out of making a booking and tug off knowing you've agreed to do a shoot but dont actually have the money or the inclination after the wank to go through with it.

Ive come to this conclusion after hearing many girls get let down by no shows

Not sure its the same with the girls who pull no shows though !happy!

Belfast makes a good point, so be selective who you do business with to avoid the cancellations.

Something I do in my every day job is I dont use a supplier who is not going to deliver what I expect and when I expect it. Use the same within your modelling.
