Should we name no shows and timewasters?

This will be in the form that either accused party (producer or performer) can respond, account for, defend themselves by being allowed to reply of course.

What about libel laws?

If something is written on a public forum on UKAP's website and can be proven to be libelous, wont this open UKAP to a whole lot of trouble?

My understanding of the law would be that every member of the Association would end up having to pay.

A lot is written in the heat of the moment only to be regreted about later.

There is no libel in saying so and so wasted my time when she failed to appear on a shoot on such a date. If the complaint gets more personal and nastier than that then yes but if you allow the other person to explain then its ok.

Dave, youre right, it may not make a blind bit of notice but at least we know who to avoid working with or at least get the heads up in advance if someones got a history of no shows or letting down performers last minute and what kind of producers association would we be if we didnt see a problem we could help bring about a solution to

Another plus point is that repeat offenders of the no show club may make efforts to not waste peoples time if they know such a forum is in existence and used by a lot of potential employers.

More good reasons for having it more than not.

too many people are hiding behind annonymity and getting away with it. Its about time people were more informed before making decision that end in disappointment

'what if they did have a valid excuse for not showing'

Hence they can state their case. it would be wrong to have it one way without a right to reply.

Obviously if a model is talked about as such she will be made aware of it so she can state her case.

If she chooses not to then people will be left to their own ways of thinking and you know how that can turn out

If a model goes out clubbing the night before and does a mound of charlie then i wouldnt want to work with them the next day anyway.

Think of this as a report card for a producers/ models reliability

I tried this remember and I got alot of people posting of no shows and then other people went on about how good they were on their shoot.

It made me wonder at one point if it was doing any good at all.

I did it from the point of, if a model or producer who did waste someones time they knew their was a forum that talked about it,If they still got work out of it fine, but they knew that people talking about it would at least stop a few jobs coming in and maybe make people think twice.

I was lucky never had many no shows from 2002-2008 but the last one I did have was the final straw and thats what made me setup the forum.

I also suggest the person being complained about defended themselves, as I got a few private e-mails of models not getting work because of the forum, and I just replied I didnt say it, someone else did, jump in and have your say. It never got nasty believe it or not although if it did I would of removed said posts. There were alot written about that gave no excuse for a no show and people still never heard why they turned up for some and not others but the point was it was written about.

Whether it helped or not I dont know, but I didnt shoot with anyone that I was told was a time waster so there's one person it helped.

In short it worked out ok and you didnt get slapped with a libel suit Paul. Nice one!

I'm thinking from the same train of thought. The word will get out and it may reduce the no shows but it also sends the message out that your employers will get the heads up if you are unreliable.

The reason girls may work for a producer over another could be based on a variety of factors. Time to work/ how easy it is versus how much paid and how much one has to do and what.

Its not set up as a witch hunt to stop girls working but there are a serious amount of time wasting so called producers who book girls before they have scratched their savings together for the shoot. So rather than say they havent got the money, just dont show and therefore a major inconvenience to the girl but other producers in the industry who could have done a shoot with her instead.
