In these times of recession i would be interested to hear from both models and togs what they consider are the standard modelling rates for 2009.
Say starting from Glamour/Lingerie, Topless, Nude, Mag( UK& US) to Continental and above
I am the first to appreciate that it depends on the model, and i am the first to say they should ask as much has they can within reason, but it would be interesting if a average hourly rate could be found.

Re: Modelling Rates
I'd be interested in knowing what the standard modelling rates for 2009 are too.
I have set rates but I normally prefer to ask the photographer or producer what thier standard rates are so I dont overcharge or undercharge lol

Re: Modelling Rates
I agree with Paradise.
TBH, I shoot basically the same thing each time I shoot to the exact same levels...
I base my pay offer on the realistic expectation of what I can recover (albeit long term) within the micro-niche fetish I shoot for...
I have offered the same money for 2 plus years, as I feel it is fair, based on ALL ASPECTS of my shoot...
I have not heard any complaints yet from models re my fee, and I am happy with my return in relationship to the fee, so its down to the individual...
I dont think there 'needs' to be fixed fees... Or more to the point, that there needs to be a 'LOWERING' of fees paid, just because of the catch phrase 'Credit Crunch'...
I mean, if your paying a girl to shove a dildo up her ass... While you take pics etc... Then shes still shoving a dildo up her ass on camera... Just because you 'cant OR 'can' make money in return is irrelevant...
Thats down to YOU... The model shouldn't suffer financially because of YOUR inability to monetise the content.
If YOU cant make a good return... DONT SHOOT! Or.. Shoot and look at it as a loss leader... I dont think its fair to penalize models because YOU cant monetize YOUR content effectively!!!

Re: Modelling Rates
When I'm considering booking a model I will either go with one who has rates quoted in a forum or will ask her what her rate is, if i don`t like the rate then communication stops at that point. The rates quoted from models vary to the point of silliness like a couple month back i adverted for models on one site and said for them to let me know the rate they wanted for a 4 hour shoot, well i had modes quote as little as 100 for 4 hours upto using toys and I had models quote 400 for same, i didn't book either as my thinking was that 400 was waaaayy too much and suggested they were offering more than modelling and 100 smacked of desperation, the majority quoted 200 and I thought that was around what I expected and was happy with, so yeah around 50 ph for that level would say is what most people look for.
I get models sometimes email say x amount for a day and again varies just the same 100 to 400 but they never say how long a day is, and also I see the more pro togs advert saying a day but again never say how long a day is. So how many hours is a day? (smart arses - don't say 24)

Re: Modelling Rates
I found Snow Patrol's answer a good one has well.
I always like the models to give me a quote for a couple of hours shoot and if out of my price range don't pursue the matter, but send a polite email saying why.
Just recently one or two models have asked me to give them a quote for which i reply "i try to pay the standard rates". In some of the replies i think the models thought they were too low.
The reason i made the post is that i just wondered if what i thought were the standard rates could be too low, and had hoped i would receive a guideline from this forum.
By the way i get most of my models from Purestorm many of which are new models. I don't know who advises them on some of their modelling rates
I have worked with a number of models from the South Yorkshire area and have always found them offering very reasonable rates. In fact in a couple of cases i did not think they had charged enough and gave them more.
May i also praise KazB for offering such great rates, no wonder she gets lots of work
The same applies to Paradise who i was lucky to have a shoot with early last year.
Hopefully someone will be able to post some guidelines

Re: Modelling Rates
I usually say a half day is 4 hrs and a day is 8hrs.
Re: Modelling Rates
Thanks Nikonman.
I think my rates are pretty standard, but I offer a reduced rate from home as an incentive for amtogs and semi's. Quite simply it means shooting at home allows me to do more in a day. The photographer saves on a studio fee, and if he also drives - it saves him having to splash out on trains and taxi's for a model.
My thoughts on rates for 2009 - I think Stockie and Snow Patrol have summed it up perfectly between them. Rates have stayed pretty static on average - perhaps with a slight increase of desperado's on one end and a few delusional f***wits on the other end who think they are Jenna Jenson. Hey the crunch and propaganda is bound to cause SOME madness!
Opting for one of the extremes is never going to turn out well - I've heard so many photographers recently say something along the lines of "She was gonna do me continental in her pussy and arse for ?100 all day then doesn't bloody turn up and has her phone off!"
Hmmmm I wonder if Miss ?400 for a continental shoot expects a chauffered limousine and mini bar
