Plans are underway to adopt a service similar service to AIM in the US. Is this something you would want to see and use in the UK?

Re: Attn: All UK models and producers
I don't think that is such a good idea Terry,
It should be the responsibility and duty of the performer to always have their original up to date documents (certs) on them and to show them to the performers that they are working with and vice versa, and also to the 'producer' if they wish to have a copy for their records (although that is not always the case in my experience)..I always keep my certs in a folder so they can be viewed back to 2 years ago..
Having this information online and for all to see is not the way to go (let's not forget any old charlatan can, and usually does, masquerade as a 'producer' and would be privvy to performers private and confidential information..D.O.B Address etc,) ...

Applicants can be easily vetted Andy.
We have thought of this which is why the link says it will be password protected for members of the industry only so this information will not be available to the public

What if the site was hacked?
How much personal information would be stolen and would UKAP be able to cope with the potential litigation?

Crikey! its not as if we are going to have their bank accounts and next of kin online James.
Its a good question though and one I cant rightly answer at this point but I am merely canvassing for opinions first.

OEJ,
But models real names and dob will be online, info which can easily be used for less than wholesome purposes. What about the models' privacy?
Also, if the Pentagon can be hacked into (as has happened), I hardly think such a scheme can be viewed with confidence. James not Bond is right to raise this potential danger.
There's no way on earth I'd agree to my certs/details being placed online.
The current system where models take their certs and photo id to shoots is good enough.

Re: Attn: All UK models and producers
the point I made on UKAP is that if certs are scanned in to a database its leads to tampering with the certs I always like to exchange the real ones that way the correct information is in front of you

OEJ,
How can applicants/producers be easily vetted? What about the applicants/producers employees?
Such a scheme, in this country, would probably be in violation of the Data Protection Act and quite rightly so, in my opinion.

It isn't impossible to find that information out once someone has a date of birth and home address these days, some little whizkid could hack straight into it, so I can't see this one taking off for a number of reasons!
And why exactly would you want this anyway ? Like I said, isn't it enough for a producer to see the tests on the day, and also having an up to date cert is for the benefit of the performers and not the producers, unless its a 'hands on' producer, so maybe we should ask to see all producers certs online and their personal information too! lol

Long Overdue...
I forget the acronymn for the group that was set-up quite a few years ago now - the response to the US performer contracting HIV in Brazil and then infecting 2 or 3 girls in due course - terrible tragedy and that's even with the safeguards provided for by AIM. However, the scope of the tragedy would have been so muchthe worse WITHOUT AIM - AIM put a lid on it as quickly as was reasonably possible... over here in the UK, I shudder to think at what might have been!
Anyway - fantastic news and I sincerely hope it has legs this time round...
As for Jamenotbond and the litigation query... People get a little bit too hot under the collar about the potential for litigation. The media have created this state of semi-hysteria. Providing the outfit takes REASONABLE STEPS - then there is little chance of successful litigation even in the case of a security breach. Providing the Data Protection Act is complied with (and the relevant codes of practice), suitably secure servers etc. etc. - there should be little litigation risk.
Even having said that - I would suggest something like a performer ID card with their details on it - including their ID number. The register need only list the performer by their ID number - i.e. NO "directly" identifying personal data need be maintained. A producer could call on the organsiation - quote their detials to validate themselves - then - looking at the performer ID card, quote their ID number and get all the necessary information pertaining to that ID number... job done.
Good luck with it Terry.
