question about cert

Post by fozzy »

I didnt have my cert before today, as the test results I had was sent to myself by text message and I didnt pick the paper work up until today.

I am new to the adult industry but want to make a career from this. I have my first shoot tomorrow morning and hope all goes well.

The cert I collected today is a cert B which states that I had my tests done on 27/02/08 and that I collected my results today on 27/03/08.

The results show that I have been tested for the following:
gonorrhoea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV 1+2, all came back negative.

As I am new to this I am unsure to if this is the correct cert needed.
I spoke with someone by phone yesterday and he said I needed a cert for his shoot but I didnt have it at that moment and did not know if I would be able to get the cert today.

on the phone I was told that the tests/cert was needed every month.
where as today I was told by the nurse that it wouldnt show up in tests until after 3 months of the intercourse and wouldnt need to be tested until the next 3 months of my last test.

So my question is:
how often do I need to be tested?
once a month or once every 3 months?

Many Thanks

A few things here:

1. Yes, some STI's take 12 weeks before they show. However, you should get tested every month.

2. Tests done last month and collected today - most models will only shoot if you up-to-date certs max 30days or less (so yours would be out of date).

4. Private Clinics may give you results the same day but NHS clinics take about a week. It means your cert is only valid for 3 weeks at a time.

3. Certs are just there to protect but they really say you were clean of STI's 12 weeks ago but you still need up-to-date ones.

Hi Fozzy,

I go to MediLab in Salford Quays, a 10 minute tram ride from Manchester City Centre (unless you're driving). They test on Monday and Thurday mornings and your results come back approximately 5:30 pm the same day. You can go for your tests any day of the week but those are the days that the samples are run. You can collect your certs at the clinic or they will post them to you first class.

They run a helpful and efficient service and many performers use MediLab now, as Androm quite rightly points out, by the time you have waited for your appointment and papers through the NHS you may have lost out on 2 weeks work!

Here is a link with contact information, hope this helps you..

I get tested at an nhs clinic every 3 weeks because the results take 7 days to come back but I get my certs posted to me so I don't have to collect them. Also ask to be immunised against Heb B as its really handy to have and free!

Yeah the hep vaccination is one thing worth going to the G.U.M Clinic for, I just got tired of waiting for appointments and then having to explain why I wanted my results in writing every month to a different doctor who, when I told him it was for the purposes of pornography, looked at me like I had come into his house on Christmas day and shit on his presents! Medilab for me! lol

Yeah all above sounds ok, I get mine done on the at a NHS hostpital and everything you said you were tested for is what shows up on mine and I have never had any complaints with my certs, although I always seem to have to remind them to print them out for some reason, everytime I go they say just call up for results and I say no, I'm in the adult industry I need printed proof please and they say its fine but its the same two people I see and I'm always there.

OMG i went to nhs once.
LOL i got told i should spk to a counsellor as i must have pyschological issues to do porn!
Was treated like shit by a doctor who kept rolling her eyes at me. then sent to a male nurse to discuss fully how filthy and whore like i was and how people like me are causing the problems.
I left the clinic nearly in tears and rang a producer who said go to MediLab (salford)
Never looked back, any performer who goes there will comment on the effiency and counselling (those little chats you have with the nurse) services offered.
My advice if u can afford it go private.
