Hello All!
Quick ?hi? from newbie me, I?ve watched from the sidelines a little ? overwhelmed by the grammatical excellence and refreshing break from txtspk. Lynn Truss would make a good admin/moderator here!
Apologies if some similar topic is already posted up, the UTFS alarm didn't seem to go off! Or, if it's in contravention of any forum guidelines, I'll gladly remove it.
I?ve been interested in porn and technology since the days of the ZX Spectrum and a 50p Razzle. So no surprises that after geting a degree in ?Computing with Business? I went to work in IT and became involved in new media/marketing/pr. I?ve sat from the sidelines and watched the phenomena that is internet porn, grow to where it is now. Equally, I?ve sat with my dick in my hand waiting for a gif to download on the trusty ?14.4k Compuserve? connection hunting the best that the early nineties porn could provide. So yes, I?m a wanker too.
For the past few years I?ve been involved with search engine optimisation, which has led on to other developments. As much of what I would like to say has a sensitive market information value, I?ll be slightly ambigious about revealing too much in detail, as it is my intention to work with a selected few. I?m not a programmer or developer, but I have spent time working recently with a few sites (non-porn), some of which are household names. Some are not so well known, but generate more traffic per day than you would expect. Some sites have acheived this through very clever manipulation of what?s known as the Google Algorithm and are therefore adept at the Google Dance. None of it is illegal, but it does have certain parameters.
Working with some of the largest ad network agencies in this country and the US, has also given me valuable insight into driving traffic to websites, web page structure and site content and how that affects search engine rankings. Additionally I have been involved in ?monetising? sites both on and offline. The wealth of knowledge I have about opening up tremendous revenue streams for websites is a valuable asset to any industry. I never even thought about UK porn, assumed we had it covered. However, looking at recent traffic figures for UK sites shocked me. I thought we?d be more popular. We?re not.
For an example, go to www.alexa.com and type in your, or other well known sites, to get an idea of trafffic rankings and reach. See we all know porn keywords are searched massively so I expected to find some of the more popular & established site owners here all tucked away in the Bahamas, sipping Mojito?s and electronically transferring billions around. For a more global perspective, go to www.compete.com and see how your site fares from a US perspective. Both of those sites are free by the way and unless you want to start paying ????????s to Nielsen or Comscore (who I have experience of), they?re not a bad reflection of traffic figures and compete will give you page visits and length of time spent on site.
I?m looking to get involved with UK sites and help them develop into global successes. I know what can get you to the top of search engine rankings, without paying fortunes to Adwords. I also know how to get multiple revenue streams coming into your site. I?ve spent the last twelve months attending Ad:tech, both here and in the States and have cutting edge new approaches that are already generating ?100k?s for publishers and advertisers.
If you are interested and want to know more pm me or email me at samshelmerdine@hotmail.co.uk. and let's start some dialogue. You should also know that this mild mannered ?geek? is looking for a career in front of the camera. I?ve already booked a STD test and have decided that we should all be getting paid to do what we like most (especially if we?re good!). So, both my dick and brain are for hire. Shock horror, I?m actually good looking too!
Gosh, that was a long introduction!
Sam (alias)
Are you getting enough? Traffic, that is...
