Following joe king's posts a few weeks ago on the release of this movie, the Daily Mail today reports under the headline "Censors nod through film that plumbs new depths". This is on page 38.
This could be seen as progress, albeit very slow progress. The BBFC is reported as follows: "It effectively means the BBFC will only insist on cuts in scenes which feature violent sex, graphic rape or illegal sexual activity such as paedophilia and bestiality. This has happened just twice to 18-rated flims since the new rules were introduced." That seems to fly in the face of what the BBFC's own website says.
One final interesting point - Media Watch UK is obviously against this release, but significantly, no spokesperson is named.
Progress, or not?

Yep - I think we can open a bottle of cheap champagne. I looked out for this film in the cinema, but despite having three 20 screen multiplexes, it wasn't played here in Manchester. Not that I'd go and see it just because it had oral sex in it, but you know. I can't see a whole tidal wave of hardcore stuff in cinema now though, I thin they'll only pass it if it's part of a 'legitimat' mainstream film and it's presence is warranted in the plot and storyline. However, they're no longer blindly dissmissing it which is fantastic.

The next problem to overcome (after the BBFC) is the ego of the actors who'll want paying billions if they're to have sex on screen. I, on the other hand, will do it for a meesly ?5,000,000.

PS Has anyone seen 'One Night In McCools'?? Liv Tyler at her very best. And that car wash scene. Wow.

It's not even got a release date for this country yet! Given that it's an arthouse film it'll get a small release on the independent circuit. If your in Manchester then your best bet is the 'Cornerhouse' cinema on Oxford Road -- I can't imagine the UCI's and Warner chains showing this on your average Saturday afternoon!!
