Digital SLR Cameras

Post by Will Hagen »

Can anyone recommend a good digital slr camera. I'm ok with video and have used sony vx1000 and vx2000 and currently using a canon xm2 but stills cameras don't mean a great deal to me and I have a healthy amount of cyncism when it comes to reading reviews through sales sites.

Cheers

Forgot to say

I've been looking at the nikon d70 and the canon 300d if that helps at all.

I'd appreciate some sound and truely independent advice.

Cheers again

Hi Will,

I use Canon's, main one is a 10D which is excellent (although in for repair at the mo as it keeps erroring) and use a 300D as a backup. 300D is very good, only downside I have found is the buffer is pretty crap, and after about 12-15 pics, is a small delay as it writes the data and you get the busy display, so continuous shooting is not possible. Never had this problem on the 10D as I have never yet managed to fill the buffer.

I am also looking at a 20D as new camera, and move the others into the backup case.

Only other slight downside on the Canon is that my 10D which went in to repair last week will take about 6 weeks to repair - they certainly are ot quick. I don't know if repair turnaround for Nikon or others is better, but Canon certainly do not rush themselves.

Cheers

Paul.
