DBM listings part 1

We are currently indexing DBM titles according to series: listing, e.g., 'Africa
Calling' [Debora DA032], with the alternative title 'Debora 32 - Africa Calling'.
This will eventually enable users to search an entire series using only one page
[in this case, obviously: D] of the 'Films' listing. This will be analogous to the
ongoing work in additionally listing Private series [Black Label, Gold etc.] by
volume-number.

As usage by DBM is sometimes inconsistent I've opened this thread to add notes
where exceptions or different conventions have been adopted - this will hopefully
be easier for all than listing exceptions under individual films' entries. It was
felt that this information would be better placed here than say, in the general
egafd pages or in the FAQs.
This will be a running thread, with comments added as/when appropriate; enquirers
can be referred to this thread, and if the answer is not already there then a query
can easily be placed.
Please bear with us while this work goes on; there are a lot of additions to be
made and it's not the only task on the table, so it may be a year or more before the
listings become remotely comprehensive.


1) DBM Tiger [so far only listed up to number 40, as many subsequent volumes
are comps. or have exclusively non-Euro material]: DTG501/504/514/517 [i.e.
Tiger 1/4/14/17] are not listed as no titles appear to have been issued by DBM
with these serial-numbers.

2) DBM Sextra: volumes up to 18 inclusive have the 'Sextra' spelled with a
double 'x' [i.e. 'Sexxtra'], but all volumes have SE32xx serial-numbers. For
ease of reference, each volume's respective series-title has been listed under
'Sextra'.

Euro Stars series.
Part of this series, although sharing serial-numbers in the DSxx range, is
prominently labelled 'Euro Extrem' - the latter usage had been adopted wherever
it occurs. The series comprises a range of material: some are retitlings or new
scenes; other sseem to be comps. Only those containing new material, or whose
original title can be identified with reasonable certainty, have been listed.

Amateure Intim series.
These were issued with Euro M?dchen DEMxx serial-numbers and usually bore
both titles on the cover, albeit with the 'AI' given prominence. Volumes
39 - 46 [last in the the series?] were released solely with the Euro M?dchen
title.

Aside from the Amateure Intim series, some comps. and retitlings were also
released under this aegis, usually with Rxx serial-numbers.

Stockists.

Most of DBM's titles can be ordered as DVDs from Bluemediashop. The search-
engine is fairly good, but note that as usual with German sites it will only
accept diphthongs with the appropriate diacritic, e.g. '?' but not 'ae'.
When I ordered from them every third disc was free [but check before you
buy!]; despatch is secure and prompt, and the ordering-process is fairly
uncomplicated. There is no template for returning customers, so having to
re-enter all one's details each time is pretty tedious.

Downloads are available from the sister-site movies4you. Titles here are
grouped mainly by series; a major defect is the lack of a search-engine.
However, if you search a particular title on BMS that page will then often
open up another with a download-link back to the m4y site. The quality in
general is very good, at or near DVD-standard; download speed is reasonable
with a BB connection - 700+ kps on my [very average] set-up.
There is, rather annoyingly, no discount for bulk-purchases. The order-process
is straightforward but again, there is no template for returning customers.

Customer service is a little slow to respond, but once contact has been made,
is courteous and effective.

Purchase part 2:
1) the amount and variety of DBM comps is truly staggering. One quick way of
filtering these is to check for a '2' or '2 Stunden' on the cover. If it has
this, you can be confident it's a comp. and dismiss it immediately.
The 90-min. ones are somewhat harder to detect : -) If a given title is not
listed in the db as an alternate, post it here and we'll try and work it out.

There seems to be little benefit in listing this extensive series numerically,
as it primarily comprises compilations and retitlings. The former have been
omitted and the latter only included where they have been identified as
alternate titles.

There are a very few titles which seem to comprise original material: these
will be listed in the usual way.

These are compilations with scenes largely or wholly lifted from the Twilight
series. Where the original source-material has been identified this will be
noted on the respective Viper volume's page.

Volumes up to 22 inclusive have been released on DVD, either under their
original titles or relabelled. I've seen a cover but have yet to trace a
re-release for vol. 23; and according to an old post here by Archipoeta
there's a final, 24th, volume - about which I know nothing.

BTW, the colour and crispness on most of these [vintage '94] films is exquisite -
well done, the unsung artist at DBM.

An early assessment suggests there may be considerable crossover in material
between this series and the Dino's Blue Movie and Downtown collections.
