In the end from what I have been observing, directors, produciers and distributors end up making what they want to make and although they pretend they care about porn consumers and general likes and dislikes they do what they want to do and when they want do it.
Like mainstream cinema, porn is a competive and copycat sport, when one does one thing everybody jumps on the band wagon and makes the same thing for weeks and months on end until another train with something different comes along.
Pon moves in cycles. One "season" it's teen movies, the next is MILFS, then porn parodies ad nauseam (like at present), movies shot P.O.V. (the present diseasde, if I can call it that).
No matter what formula you are going to develop or put into action, at the speed porn is produced and distributed these days, someone else will copy it before you can blink. It is difficult to remain "fresh" and "innovative", without having dozens of other copycatters chasing you.
Nice looking girls and appealing male co-stars are always a plus (no use having a nice young girl being boned by Ron Jeremy). A semblance of a story line and some preliminaries to get the blood flowing is a good thing. That would require to know what settings/sets may be avaliable to structure those type of fantasy stories people may have in mind.
