Great bloke who has been making socially and politically aware TV and film for over 50 years on a variety of subjects from homelessness to the Spanish Civil War.

Those who cannot bear open discussions about British society and politics have tried to suppress his views and work for decades.

Evidence ? You think he's put his hand in his pocket in the past and funded them ? I don't. Define 'support' ?

Life's more complicated than 'for' and 'against'. To you 'sympathetic' means 'for'. If you watched Steve McQueen's film 'Hunger' you would probably describe McQueen and Michael Fassbinder as 'cunts'.

If you watched Micheal Hanneke's film 'The White Ribbon' you would probably describe him as pro terrorist and a cunt.

All these people are trying to do is understand. They're portrayed in a particular way by journalists for the benefit of people like you who can only think in terms of 'black' and 'white'.

Ken Loach movie 'Sweet Sixteen'

Post by Snowy »

One of this country's greatest-ever film directors.

Saw 'Sweet Sixteen' at the cinema when it came out a few years ago. Know the area where it's set - Greenock - very well indeed.

It's a typical Ken Loach picture - (very) hard-hitting with some (black) humorous moments.

Well worth a watch, for sure, as newcomer Martin Compston gives an outstanding performance in the lead role.
