Southampton sack Adkins

Post by Porn Baron »

Two successive promotions and this season doing as well as could be expected. Difficult to know what someone has to do to keep their job?????
Stupid decision!

Clearly an Argentine who can't speak English will do a much better job.

I feel sorry for the bloke. Was down in Southampton last Sept and the locals spoke very well of him. I think he will find a new job quite easily.

Im a Saints fan !footie!

Its sad to see Nige go and as one have you have already said he will be back in Football within weeks (possibly Blackpool) He was very well liked down here and even when we had some difficult games at the start of the season and were bottom fans chanted his name. Sadly we have a ego maniac running the show down here who has a massive say in alot of what goes on even to the extent that some of the player signings have been players he wanted instead of the manager (Gaston Ramirez and Guly Do Prado come to mind). Arguably Alan Pardew was doing a good job before NA showed up and he was shown the door. Anyone who does a half decent job seems to be a dead man walking. I know the guy we have brought in has a good reputation in Spain but the fact he cant speak English is a concern and also he has never had any involvment with English Football is another. In his press conference he said that people should look at Pep and the fact is that he cant speak German. Which is all well and good but Peps first game will be in 7 months time and yours is in 3 days time in a difficult game against Everton..... not really the same thing!!!

I had a laugh when I heard that Pepe Guardiola had signed with Bayern Munich.

Good on him. He has gone up higher in my estimate as a result. Allegedly, Abramovich was keen on getting him for the end of the season to replace the "interim" manager, Benitez.

My guess is that Guardiola is used to a club with high involvement from the fans, a great reputation for its youth team development and a fantastic history. So Bayern Munich is probably a good choice in that it has much of the club owned by the fans, reasonable admission prices, compared to the top Premier League sides and a great history

You get the impression from CHelsea that the fans are generally regarded as bags of shit with wallets by the owner. And loyalty and respect e.g. the way Lampard is currently being treated, doesn't exist in the club.

You have another example in Southampton where Adkins has had fantastic success with two promotions and is out of the relegation zone. Compare his treatment with that of Martinez at Wigan and you see how important it is to have an owner that has at least some idea of how difficult it is for a club with limited resource to stay in the Premier League.

Im not blaming Pep for taking the Bayern Job. They are a massive club. What Im saying is that he will not take over til next season and has several months to learn German as where our new manager who cant speak any English takes over now and we are in a relegation battle... makes no sense.
