Gas and Electricity -To switch or not to switch
Gas and Electricity -To switch or not to switch
Recent visits to the comparision sites suggest I would save about ?200 (which I could spend on a few hours of solo adult level shoot instead!grin! ) each year if I switch.High up the list are First Utility,eDF,npower and Scottish Power.Quick goggle reviews of them show some horrible feed backs.Anyboby has any experience (good or bad) with these suppliers?

Edf have a terrible customer service. Although because of which I had a gas bill reduced from ?700 to ?150 by the ombudsman. They didn't reply to emails or letters took wrong readings and the call centre was always engaged. They were relatively cheap though !wink!
Npower bills give excellent break downs of bills tariffs and projected yearly cost.
The best quotes on the comparison sites may be from the providers who have yet to put their prices up??? Only then can you make a comparision. The best way is to fix your bill.
Ovo are worth looking at. Small company with only two tariffs

First check what you would pay with the various companies on Uswitch etc using your usage over last 12 months rather than payments made.
When I did this the savings worked out significantly less and the company that would supposedly give the biggest saving changed.
The best deal is normally both electricity and gas from the same supplier with monthly direct deb(i)t payments and online administered paperless account.
As already posted difficult to make a comparison when some have not announced price rises unless fixed rate for a reasonable time.
If you go for it expect to spend a while on the phone talking to both new and existing suppliers.

Just switched to OVO after getting pissed off with Npower taking too much each month in direct debits. Despite giving them monthly readings I was ?257 in credit. OVO have a good 12 month contract and they also pay 3% on money in credit on your account. If you go to simplyswitch via Martin Lewis's site and change provider you get ?40 paid into your account
