What has happened to Britain?
Re: What has happened to Britain?
You are witnessing the topsy turvey, crazy world of Political Correctness, left for us by 13 years of New Labour. A world where "justice" reigns for the scum. A world where an old lady could be gaoled for beating off a mugger with her hand-bag!A system that will pursue you to the ends of the Earth to claim a parking fine, but allow scum like the person you have shown, to lord it up here and no doubly claim every benefit on the table.
The worst thing of all is that while New Labour has left us to live in this disgusting charade of a so called, "Criminal justice system", this present bunch of chicken shit, hand wringers, have done NOTHING to smash the old system.
They have done nothing to re-write the Human Rights Act and maybe add a clause like, "A foreign national will be excluded from the provisions of this Act the moment he or she is found guilty of a criminal offence in the UK. The judge in such a case will be encouraged to enforce robustly all avenues for immediate deportation of the criminal to his homeland, regardless of whether or not there is a risk of torture"
Imagine it, there would be mayhem in Parliament, New Labour MP's screaming, "How typical Tory, flying convicted rapists and murderers back to their homelands in ECONOMY CLASS is one thing BUT CUTTING OFF THEIR BENEFITS AS WELL IS AN OUTRAGE!
New Labour must be cackling with laughter seeing their nutty system still firmly in place. It looks like the Coalition are little more than caretakers doing a bit of sweeping up, dusting and tidying up, before handing the country back to the last lot of nutters to continue wrecking!
If this is true, then God help us all!
PS While I am writing this there is a report on the BBC News Channel asking why there is an explosion of far Right groups throughout Europe......errm I can't imagine why! !confused!

I have often wondered James if there was a type of Tourette's syndrome in which the sufferer, instead of swearing, banged on endlessly about "New Labour". It may be worth a trip down to your local clinic.
"Here you are Mr Slip, watch this DVD of David Cameron speeches and you will be back to nornal in no time" !wink!
Now, to the matter in hand,
"You are witnessing the topsy turvey, crazy world of Political Correctness, left for us by 13 years of New Labour." "New Labour must be cackling with laughter seeing their nutty system still firmly in place"
The events described in the Telegraph have nothing particularly to do with New labour as the article points out.
"In every case, and regardless of the crime, deportation cannot take place if doing so would breach the UK's international obligations under, for example, the European Convention on Human Rights"
The European Convention on Human Rights was drafted by the Council of Europe and became law in 1953. I seem to recall a Tory government was in power at the time.
Now Mr. Slip you may rant and rail against said measure but this "nutty system" has no more to do with New Labour than any other British government in the last 50 years.
Have a nice day and do watch that DVD.

Oh and another thing James
Again if you read the second article Mr Gusset Sniffer provides re. the soldier refused citizenship, it is worth pointing out the following:
"However, for immigration purposes, a military summary punishment counts the same as a criminal conviction in a civilian court, disqualifying the applicant from citizenship. Under the old rules, discretion was allowed and would almost certainly have been granted for such a minor, non-criminal offence. However, since April last year all discretion has been removed and anyone with any offence whatever must be refused".
Now given the article appears to have been written on 21st July 2012, April last year would be 2011. Any idea which government was in power then?
I would be the last in line to defend Labour's treatment of the Sherpas for example, but to dump all blame on "New Labour" is total arse. The current government appear to have made such injustices even worse.
Good DVD?

And yet Ukrainians etc. with criminal convictions ARE allowed to stay under "right to a family life", while this guy is apparently being denied that same right. That's is the madness of it.

This is the very essence of the problem, nothing ever really changes. You have New Labour that squanders like a drunken sailor who's just won the lottery and you have the Tories that hack everything down to the bone. Meanwhile, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and people like the scumbag you wrote about lounge around in luxury, getting served 3 good meals a day by their manservants, or as they used to be called, "Prison warders" and enjoying access to PS 3's and plasma tellies so big that workmen have to make bigger doors to the cells just to get them in! The only surprise is that he hasn't claimed some kind of "Compensation!" I expect that is yet to come!!cigar!

Gusset Sniffer
"Could we please stop blaming the tories and get our MP's to change things?"
A somewhat completely one-sided post if you dont mind me saying, Mr Gusset Sniffer.
As per usual, Jim Slip's ignorance blamed it all on New Labour for setting up such a system. I am merely pointing out this is total bollocks. And in fact, the Tories have made the system worse, given their changes to the rules re. military offences in 2011.
Gusset Sniffer/Flat Eric
Secondly I suspect there is something that you are both missing here.
1. Foreign criminal gets convicted.
2. UK government attempts to deport.
3. Foreign criminal gets Human Rights Lawyer to defend and "right to family life" defence invoked.
4. Foreign criminal carries on staying in the UK.
1. Fijian soldier is convicted of military offence.
2. UK government attempts to deport.
3. Shock horror Telegraph isnt this terrible lets write to our MPs the country is going to hell in a handcart, I blame New Labour etc etc.
The questions you two good gentlemen should ask yourselves is:
1. Is there any reason why the Fijian soldier should not get a Human Rights Lawyer and follow the same path as the foreign criminal given the circumstances?
2. If there is no reason, why hasn't it happened?
WHen you have found the answer, please let me know, because I don't know the answer either.

Re: Eric/Gusset Sniffer
What I mean is can we stop blaming the government and do something to change things? I blame all politicians for allowing this to happen.
These people who come here illegally should be deported. No matter what!
If they want a family life they are free to take their familes with them. We will even pay for them to leave. We need to change the law!
I believe mister slip is a socialist at heart. !adolf! He seems to slag off all politicians????
