Ben Dover at the High Court
I see in the Telegraph - long article on their website - that many thousands
of internet users will now have their personal details handed over to Mr Ben
Dover alias Lindsay Honey and his company, Goldeneye International (a
great choice of name since our Ben is a long time James Bond fan).
It seems he may be less lucky in extorting ?700 from each of them for
viewing his movies and reprimanded for the threatening letters he sent
the subscribers whom, he argues, illegally watched his filth.
Interestingly, in a poll conducted by the Telegraph only 12% of folk agreed
that Honey had a right to protect his copyright in this way, 88% felt personal
data protection was more important than a Company`s rights over its
products.
I also see that almost 100 people left comments on the website. I rather
liked the first I read this afternoon, the writer urging others "not to view
web porn by a ten foot pole. Its all a scam feeding off fools."
Re: Ben Dover at the High Court
Based only on the information in your post, I agree with him, I don't see why copyright thieves should be able to hide behind data protection laws.
We have need of you again, great king.

Confucius, he say's "never fuck with people who know a lot more about the Internet than you do".

I expect the main result of this case will be that millions of porn surfers will actively remember to NEVER Google, search or download anything with the name "Ben Dover" in it, cos you might get a knock on your door at some later date!

Re: Ben Dover at the High Court
Having been a member of his site some years ago I can state honestly that his site is shyte. Probably one of the worst ones. My main gripe was and is that there were hardly any stills of the girls, especially some of the best lookers.
Probably because he wants to keep his stuff from being downloaded. Anyway, I never renewed my membership and can't think of any reason to renew.
Jimslip and Lara and Johnny Rebel piss all over Mr Dovers efforts.

Re: Ben Dover at the High Court
I'm puzzled.
The opening paragraph in the Telegraph arrticle reads:
"The High Court ordered O2 to hand over the personal details of more than 9,000 O2 broadband subscribers to Golden Eye International and the pornography firm Ben Dover Productions."
But if they were "subscribers" to the site then surely they'd paid a "subscription" so surely they weren't breaching any copyright if Ben Dover made the films available to download.
Am I missing something here?

Re: Ben Dover at the High Court
This is where its going to get ugly - they will find out through records who has been downloading bootleg and go after them. wonder if he will manage to obtain the money back from those that did download his material illegally.
Be a good thing fro the porn idustry if he does manage to do it and will be a first as the music and film industry is struggling to do what he is trying to do.

Re: Ben Dover at the High Court
The way I read this is the users of 9,124 different O2 broadband accounts potentially somehow downloaded directly from the site(s) of Golden Eye International / Ben Dover Productions without having a legitimate subscription to the site(s), not that they potentially downloaded via torrents or links found on sites like filestube.
Am I basically right or wrong?

Yes you are missing something. They weren't subscribers to the site. They were subscribers to O2 Broadband. Hence the phrase used above, "O2 broadband subscribers".
