Greatest political blunders of all time.

Post by jimslip »

For sheer, "Doh!" factor, can anybody beat Gordon Clown's selling most of our gold just before it became the most vaulable commodity on Earth?. He was advised by the Bank of England NOT to sell as gold was at an all time low. I presume he sold it all to finance New Labour's reckless squandering, but no doubt David will point out, how the selling of all the gold was either a brilliant NL strategy, the basis of which will be revealed when they get back into power or "If the Tories had been in power they would have actually GIVEN it all away at a "Ben Dover Diamond and Gold Giveaway Night" lol

Anyway, everyday thanks to Brown The Clown, we lose ?millions more as gold continues it steady rise in value. Read and weep!

Jimbo

Pales into insignificance with Thatcher's nationalisation programme.

In this stunning wheeze, the nation's family silver, water, gas, sewage, railways, steel etc etc which we all owned was sold off to private investors at a knockdown price in order to make sure that the sale went with a zing.

Since then every time we all open a utility bill (20% gas price rises this year, 8% train price rise coming up) or get on a train we will remember what a fantastic deal Thatcher did for the nation. And this will be for ever more that we and our children and their children's children will get ripped off because unless they get nationalised without compensation, no government could afford the hugely inflated prices these privatised licenses to print money now go for.

Cost to the nation? Incalculable.

Tony Blair aka Bush's tagnut remover getting elected. War, war and more fucking war for precisely no benefit to the UK.

No lover of the Thach, but she didn't sell-off the railways, that was Major.

Surprised he could find the time to do it in-between shagging that ugly Currie woman but there you are.

From what I've read the deal was so bad and the price so low because Major's government rushed the deal because he knew Labour were going to win the next election and wanted to seal the deal before he was thrown out of power.

Quite right. I'd forgotten the railway sell-off was Major's masterstroke.

What will John Mayor be remembered for?

Privatising the Railways

Introducing the National Lottery (a tax on the poor and stupid)

Shagging Edwina Currie

He must be really proud.

Actually, the Currie woman with a couple of pillow cases over her head would be an admirable fuck. She's still got a decent body to this day.
