All multinational tax avoidance/evasion must stop

Post by David Johnson »

First I am not saying all foreign aid is justified and you have to at the very least question why nuclear powers like India get UK aid, nor am I suggesting that all foreign aid is well spent. I am sure a lot isn't.

However, is there a connection here, do you think:

1. Africans on a dollar a day, can't pay too much tax.
2. Multinationals save huge sums due to African governments by tax evasion, tax avoidance, government bribery.

Put 1 and 2 together and you get continuing poverty.

Foreign aid appears to be the way we, the UK taxpayer, subsidise greedy, incompetent, corrupt governments in some cases and greedy, multinationals in many cases. Just as we the UK taxpayer subsidise companies in the UK who pay starvation wages with stuff like housing benefits to prevent their workers starving.

Notice to any BGAFD Thought Police. This appears to happen irrespective of which UK party is in charge

And most foreign aid to Africa ends up in the pockets of lunatic dictators who very quickly shift said UK tax payers hard earned money to Switzerland or the Cayman Islands. Rule Britannia, fuck the rest.

I'm sorry to say it but your quite right.

I do give and advise others to support charity payments to third world countries, but more than once I have heard that doing so described as "poor people in rich countries giving money to rich people in poor countries".

But that said it will not stop me from giving, you only need to see the pictures of children in Africa etc to know you are doing the right thing.
