Workaholic Ben Dover

Post by frankthring »

"Swingalong Ben Nights", "Hot Tub Party Nights", "Ben Dover Comedy
Shows", movies like his new anal series.....God if the old chap does not
take a rest soon he will have a heart attack (or possibly lose the rest of
his hair, which is a worrying thought). Has the Emperor of Brit Porn
never heard of over-work....or over-kill ?

Could our Ben could be in line for becoming Britain's very own new, "Mr Entertainment?" With his "Swingalong with Ben" nights, he is following in the footsteps of one of our Greats, Mr Entertainment himself, Mr Max Bygraves who actually released a record called, "Singalong with Max", not, "Swingalong with Max" (They didn't have swingers in those days!)

To the O/T forum's younger whippersnappers, this is what our Ben has to follow, no small task I think you'd agree!!wink!

(Note the old folk joining in on the chorus, brings a tear to your eyes!)

An interesting concept Jim, though I remember Ben telling me centuries ago when we were both young chaps that he loathed Hollywood musicals and musical theatre (an odd remark I thought coming from an ex drummer).
Personally I think to add zest to his whizbang comedy routines etc a few old time songs would be in order, like that classic "Bless `em all" - Ben on drums could thump out something like -
"Bless em all, bless em all...
The fat, the tattooed and small...
Bless all the starlets who give me a rise...
Bless all the old milfs who mention my size.... etc etc

I remember Max Bygraves did a single for (the then) NCB about mining safety, given to all miners, called "Do It the Safety Way".

The chorus was "Common sense saves accidents, do it the safety way"

But one of the verses was,

Unless the roof's supported
It's odds on it will fall.
And if you're underneath it,
it's not very nice at all"

Yep Max, being in a tunnel collapse hundreds of feet underground is 'not very nice'.

We have need of you again, great king.

That's quite a catchy song. I can see myself singing that all day now!

The O/T forum and it's treasure trove of interesting information never ceases to amaze me!I think Max's , "Do it the Safety Way" could be a modern day, "Elf & Safety" anthem. Maybe David Guetta should get on the case and do a hippoty-hop version for the young folk to play at their "Raves" to ensure the youngsters are always aware of, "Elf & Safety" issues when they are stuffing their gobs with booze and class A drugs!

I have a vision now in my mind of Cheryl Cole on X Factor singing ?Common Sense Saves Accidents? whilst beating the crap out of a toilet attendant.

Like a scene out of a bad British Gangster movie, but as set-up for Cheryl to sing her next hit record as an insert on X Factor.

Should I ring Simon and suggest it?

Here's another song that our Ben could add to his comedy repertoire and may I say quite an apt title considering Ben's heavy workload!

You can keep your M & M and your Hippoty-hop, this is when we had REAL entertainment! FOOT STOMPING FUN for all the family!!

I hope Mr Slip you are not jesting about Arthur Askey....the remarkable
midget and I share (or I should say shared since poor old Art is pushing
up the daisies) the same birthday ! A great panto dame though I seem
to remember watching him in "The Ghost Train" on youtube a while back
and wishing one of the cast would suffocate him !
