Utterly brilliant uplifting event and something Britain can be proud of. No other nation can do anything like this and it seems to have brought your country together for a day. I know there are quite a few anti-royalists amongst us and I actually feel sorry for you today for not being able to just enjoy the spirit of the day, but it's a free country.
Kate looked gorgeous (if a little serious at times) and even the hymns at the ceremony held my attention. The silly hats were the silliest I've ever seen. The coach ride from the abbey to the palace was spectacular.
An absolute triumph.

Why do you put these people on a pedetstal? There are people starving in the world and you carry on worshiping at the alter of privalege.
Re: Wedding - Uplifting and a Showpiece
I would guess that the Royal Family probably do more to reduce poverty and promote education and health programs in 3rd world countries than all their wealth could ever achieve if they were sold off. The Royal Family is only there because the people want them.
Besides, if you want to look at extravagant waste, a lot of poverty stricken nations seem to have absolute arseholes in power living in palaces worth more then Buckingham Palace, who couldn't give a toss about their own people. These are the ones who should go first.
The more I look at Kate the more I think she's worth every penny.

Yes Deano, I thought it was great and Kate is an absulute babe! That clingy outfit her sister was wearing would have sent a few of the old Beefeaters pace makers racing!
Together with the beautiful music I thought the whole thing was like a Disney fairy tale and what's so wrong with that?
During the service I kept think of this clip imagine if the Archbishop had made a mistake in front of 2 billion people!:

Jimbo/Deano
Agree entirely. I thought it was a great spectacle and personally I have no problem with the hype. I like a dollop of tradition. Kate and her sister definitely looked the biz.
The hereditary monarchy has been around in England for a 1000 years. And as far as I can see there is nothing wrong with that ongoing continuity .
Admittedly there are a few hangers-on in the royal family who don't earn their corn, but I can't see millions of tourists turning up every year to gawk at the ceremonies and royal buildings if it was the changing of the guard for President Thatcher, Blair or Cameron that they were coming to see or President Blair's daughter getting hitched.
Unlike the likes of Rupert Murdoch the monarchy are absolutely no threat to democracy.
I wish the newly married couple all the best.
Cheers

PS Overiding fashion comments at Johnson Towers "Where did you get that hat!" "Elton John looks like a bag of spanners" "Tara Palmer Tomkinson - get back into rehab, girl!"

Re: Jimbo/Deano
Jimbo/Deano/David - I utterly agree ! Hats were a joke and the rest of
the fashions a lot of fun ! The Middleton girls are real babes and - this
counts for a lot - have the most amazing smiles, a tonic in themselves.
Even the Queen looked stylish for once ! And you have to admire a
heavily pregnant Posh Beckham who dares to wear mega-spiky 6-inch
Christian Louboutin heels ! Gave an old perv like me a nice boner !
But best of luck to the happy couple....no country on earth can stage a
spectacle like this, full of history, romance, colour and pageantry, and
those who declaim it are sad buggers indeed !
Anti royalists constantly moan about the cost of the monarchy. I am
certain that the tourist revenue alone will have paid for the wedding
many times over - and that William and Katherine will prove amazing
assets to Britain....as well, in God`s good time, a great King and Queen !
Just to bring the tone down....
I hope Harry's giving the bridesmaid one in the bogs.
We have need of you again, great king.
Re: Jimbo/Deano/Frank/David
Here is the stirring music at the end, William Waltons Crown Imperial, shame about the FUCKING Burger King ad in the middle, which briefly interupts the evocation of rolling English countryside and Spitfires waging war against the Bosch, but very stirring all the same!

I thought I should post the "Crown Imperial" again with a rather fitting image of Flt Lt Lara Latex standing in front of the famous Derwent Dam where the Dam Busters practiced.
