The Bill - last ever episode tonight..

Post by max_tranmere »

Tune in tonight to ITV1 at 9pm to see the last EVER episode of The Bill. It has been on weekly, at times twice weekly, for 27 years and it ends forever today. It is certainly the end of an era tonight.

To be honest, I stopped watching it years ago, when they had that major overhaul, had a cull of characters, and brought in a load of new ones. I used to like it when each half-hour episode was different, then just after they changed the format of it, I stopped.

I always say, if it isn't broke don't fix it. In my (humble) opinion, it didn't need fixing.

It needed fixing to be more crap, so that viewing figures would drop, giving them the excuse to cancel a high cost show, and no doubt replace it with something involving reality and a voteline.
We have need of you again, great king.

You're totally right. It was good. What was that shit about moving it to 9 to make it edgier. It was just shit. I thought the 1 hr eps would be like the ones after woodentop which were edgy. Almost Sweeny like. I loved the show through all it's stages and even bought old episodes but lost interest with the new format. It ended up like most films, good trailers but actually shit watching. They should have bought back Burnside, a cheap bottle of Teachers Whiskey in the filing cabinet and a few nicked phrases from The Sweeny such as 'Shut It' and 'You slag'.

The 1st series was quality, but deemed to be a bit to risque. Then it got worse and worse and eventually became a soap. It needed a bit more ...... "you're fackin' nicked san" and "Alright Gov"

15 years ago when I was in digs in Bedford I thought it was time to go to the pub when it came on because it was shyte. My fellow lodger and the landlady watched it religiously so off to the pub I'd go. So, it had some merit I suppose.
