Nasty nasty General Election coming soon!

Post by mrmcfister »

'If they were to win the election, you would have a mayor of London, chancellor of the exchequer and prime minister all coming from a tiny clique who went out trashing restaurants and left large wodges of money to pay for the damage,'

Quote from a Labour Cabinet Minister yesterday...

You guys need to join the zeitgeistmovement man.

Together we can make a difference. !laugh!

Seriously though we all know politics is fucked and its never going to get better but has anyone ever wondered why we have politicians?

Google zeitgeistmoviement chaps. It will bnever happen in our life time because we are too brain washed by the way the world is.

Forums like this give us comfort to moan and have others chimed in but could you imagine if we actually did make a difference?

I think people will hate it and they will resist change because dep down, people love it really.

But currently we have a Prime Minister who could not even balance the books when he was at university and wrote cheques that bounced

And he still cant balance the books.

And who is considered Britains greatest prime minister (debatable), Churchill, and he was born here

And it could be said that Britain became a great country when it was ruled by the priviliged classes (yes I know it was a different time but we are only a "rich" country because of what we did in the past).

Generally Tories try to drag everyone up, socialists like Brown try to drag everyone down.

Rubbish.

One of the few things the Tories did when they gained our council was to buy the mayor some new chains and robes.

Once they read the finances, something you would have thought they would do before they bought the robes and chains and found out budgets were tight they cut funding for local charities while attempting to keep their own pay rise.

These are the same Tories who are so financially astute that they invested in Iceland.

With regards to the other posts I agree politics is on its arse at the moment.

The only way it will change is when those who moan actually get off their arses and do something to change it. Not voting isn't the answer.

Apparently 18 Prime Ministers were former Etonians. It will be 20 within the next 10 years: first Cameron then when he hands over to Osbourne that will make the numbers up to 20 (no one will want Osbourne as PM but he will become PM anyway after Cameron steps aside). The next Tory government dont have any policies, and will not be there cos they think they can do a good job for the country, but will be there for their own ego's and power trip. I just hope they don't abolish some of the genuinely good things that Labour have done to help the poor - the Winter Fuel Allowance, Free TV licences for pensioners, free dentist trips, and numerous other things.

I absolutely gaurentee that within 6 months or 1 year of these champayne swigging ex-Etonians taking over everyone will be disappointed, but hey, they wont care, they will have got their hands on the levers of powers, just like many generations of their families before them did! Then when it all ends they will go off and make millions and millions of pounds in the private sector, trading off the contacts they made whilst in Government, like every ex-senior politicians does.

Someone mentioned about the past of these people. The Burlington Club was an institution of toffs at Oxford who ransacked restaurants, threw flower pots through windows, made spectacles of themselves in public, got arrested, and so on. David Cameron and Boris Johnson were members in the 1980's. Boris Johnson got arrested, I think Cameron did too. Watch this Boris Johnson interview with Jeremy Paxman. At 6.19 they get onto the flower pots through windows question! It's a funny interview so watch it from beginning to end:

The tories have always been, always will be and are the party of the rich, they have no interest in anybody other than that. If anyone is stupid enough to vote for them then they deserve what they get.
