'Sexual Assault'

Post by dynatech »

Thankfully this silly case ended with the jury taking just 7 minutes to find him Not Guilty....

Question is:
Should this have been classed as 'sexual assault' given the location, the alleged act & the mildness of the supposed offence? Should it have resulted in the prosecution?
And is it fair to have the accused named and shamed whilst the complainant remains anonymous? Surely it should be 'innocent until proven guilty' with equality applied to both sides?

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

You're a quick study with the FAQs : -)

Too many of these end up as 'he said, she said'.... which of course
is why the CPS scrutinises same so thoroughly.
But it does seem that the legal trend is going toward the publishing
of the name of the complainant in the event of the defendant being
found not guilty.

Thankfully Harriet Harmon wasn't the judge.

I remember hearing an 'expert' feminist activist giving a talk about legal issues concerning sexual assaults. She claimed that because more than half of the sexual assault trials failed to end in a conviction, it proved that there was a bias against women!

She basically went on to argue that it should only be necessary for a women to claim that a man had sexually assaulted her for it to result in a conviction. A male jounalist asked her about vindictive complaints against men being used to punish ex husbands or boyfriends etc. The answer was a stern rebuke that woman never lied about such traumatic subjects as rape and that he obviously didn't understand women. A lengthy applause broke out and I felt chilled to the bone that this was a popular attitude.

The woman in this case was named on local radio:

Its an absolute scandal that women who cry rape have their identity covered up but those falsely accused are splashed all over the papers and smeared for life. Harman and her ilk defend this rubbish.

I just did a bit of Googling on Harman. She seems to be from the "two wrongs make a right" school of thinking. Her ideas about reverse discrimination bring this out.

I think the yanks call it "affirmative action" and a lot of women actually resent the idea that any promotion awarded to them might be based on their sex rather than sheer talent. Thus its end result is the opposite of it's intent - not that theoreticians ever actually care how much damage they do.

I hope that in 100 years time all this crap will have died a natural death and historians will wonder at our madness.

This was laughed out of ourt by wiser heads.
Anyone who makes a false allegation should be named.

That will reduce the number of such claims, and coincidentally increase
the number of genuine convictions- but of course Ms Harman is too
stupid to realise that.
