He shouldn't even be in the running, but is he eligable for the main award aswell as overseas personality!!!
In my opinion Adlington shouldn't even be considered to become a dame just like Kelly Holmes shouldn't have been. But Queenie will have to give her the title because she gave it to Holmes.
She should certainly be in the running for Sports Personality. Although could you overlook Hoy or Wiggins if they win 3 golds?

In the end, it comes down to the voting public, xdx. And this is the same public who voted the award twice to a man who didn't even have a personality (Nigel Mansell).
Rebecca would be a worthy winner. She's proved herself an excellent swimmer, has a bubbly personality and seems rather grounded. She, Wiggins, Hoy and probably Hamilton will be frontrunners. But in the end, it will come down to who captures the public imagination most.

To be fair Kelly Holmes wasn't made a Dame JUST for two golds. It was the whole career that was honoured not just two races. Also her charity work was considered aswell.
That said I have a sneaky feeling Rebecca will be given it. Two more in 2012 will seal the deal of course!

Ignoring the triviality that is the SPYA, I suspect that Rebecca Adlington will be honoured, like many before her, with an MBE, which IMHO would be appropriate.
Dame Kelly's award was to recognise her whole career in athletics, not just the crowning glory of her two gold medals in Athens.
Rebecca may not be at the start of her career but is nowhere near its end.
If she was to be made a dame at this point in time, what recognition could be made if she did better in 2012 or even 2016,which will probably be her peak time?
