Opera

Post by mike johnson »

This has been discussed in the past a tiny bit. Is anyone using this browser now?? I understand its performance has gotten steadily better, & it is more secure than Firefox, let alone IE (does anyone still use IE??)

It's slick, quick, and has some cool features.

Trouble is, Firefox just has too many plugins & add-ons for me to switch. I'd use Opera over IE without hesitation, but Firefox still rules.

They've got Safari out for Windows now. Dunno if it's still beta, but it's fast as hell on my girlfriends Powerbook. If they get it right, it'll rival Opera, but again, with the add-ons Firefox has, I can't see any other browser muscling in.

From what I read, Safari is even more secure than Opera, but that may just be because it hasn't been targeted as much by the bad guys. Now that it's on PC's, that may change--eventually.

Security wise, I don't think there'll be much difference between the three, including standards compliance. I think Safari is the fastest (though the Windows version hasn't been tested I don't think).

Browser stats from W3C:

I use Firefox as a primary browser but for some sites Opera is still better. I also use Konqueror on my Linux box. IE hasn't been opened for a long time - no point in doing so.

How many of the 38.1% using IE6 get to vote at election times?

Been using opera for 5 years now, wouldn't change, but that may well be because I know opera inside out,and it'd take time to learn another one.
Opera does have a few glitches of course, but it was always quick, and everything is so easily accesable.Firefox is all plugins, and as such seemed a lot slower last time I tried it,but things change..maybe it's better now?
Nothing wrong in using 2,let's you compare better,I did that between mozilla and opera before falling for opera.
