Funnily enough, I don't think they're being racist, just thick as pigshit, the Scouse bint, I think she used to be in S-Club 7 is, I hate to say is behaving the way we expect of funnily enough council estate scrubbers.
Jade Goody is a different case, her father is black, I don't think her mother is either, just thick uneducated.
I think the comparisons should be, with say..Rigsby out of 'Rising Damp'.

Not been watching so can't comment - but the media coverage does seem to be another case of 'media hysteria'.

Re: Racist bullying on Celebrity Big Brother
Surely the idea is to just watch what these people do, not to attempt to influence events by complaining?
Otherwise the whole exercise - simply observing - becomes invalid.
If things happen that one finds distasteful, one ceases observing.

Re: Racist bullying on Celebrity Big Brother
they have reacted in india with a good old fashioned effegie burning
seriously though, its a case of council estate school girl bullies not knowing any better rather than outright racism in my opinion however it is quite offensive to watch and should be stopped - I do enjoy seeing Jade goody destroying her non career though
For starters, Jo O'Meara, Jade Goody and Danielle Lloyd have been making fun of Shilpa Shetty's accent.
What about if Shilpa had mimicked a scousers, or jordies accent? Maybe tried her hand at cockney? We see actors 'acting' and mimicking different accents all the time on tv to conform to certain stereotypes without all the hysteria (say a comedy sketch of 2 thieves in a dole queue, who have a scouse accent, wearing shell suits and permed hair).
One episode the week, Jo O'Meara said that Indians were thin because they were always ill because they didn't cook their food properly.
I agree this one aint good. It isn't exactly racism though - more generalisation. Talking of being thin - in celebrity circles that was probably meant as a compliment to Shilpa's figure. *Women are weird that way.
They also moaned that Shetty had touched other housemates' food with her hands.
Danielle Lloyd said: "You don't know where those hands have been."
Hardly racism! My Mum & gran used to say that to me when they'd prepared my tea after football! "Go wash your hands before tea, we don't know where those hands have been!" No I wasn't an adopted black baby, though I'll check in the mirror to confirm after this.
I've not seen the programme so I can't comment on the context things were said. Maybe it's just straight up 'poking fun' with someone who annoys them. Maybe it's downright bullying, or maybe it is racism? All I'm saying is 'innocent until proven guilty', or at least it should be. Channel 4 can't kick them out on a few peoples assumptions. None of what's been said is directly racist.
* generalisation !happy!

Re: Racist bullying on Celebrity Big Brother
I've not seen any of the current CBB programs, but they did show a clip on Channel 4 News relating to the complaints about racist bullying. Here's my take on the issue -
Like many female Bollywood stars the Indian girl is quite beautiful, and put those other dreary Essex scrubbers (her tormentors) in the shade. But I immediately lost any sympathy for her when she started effing and blinding (bleeped out on C4 News) in the manner of a common slappa.
I rather think this is all a setup between the producers and protagonists to get people talking about a vacuous, wanky show that is slipping in the ratings. In my view they're all a set of twats, and if it was up to me I would order that we immediately take off and then nuke the BB house from orbit.

If there is such a stereotype as 'council estate racism'- if it exists- then this is it.
Jade Goody is destroying her scummy career whilst we watch- and she knows not one thing about it.....even Gordon Brown is having to make peace with the Indian media about it.
