Islam needs to grow up

Why do Muslims take offence at every minor indiscretion made by other religions? Tolerance is one of the most important part of any credo. Do these people not comprehend free speech, personal opionion or are they simply narrow minded sheep who follow an ancient book to the letter and not think for themselves?

How many Muslims have actually heard The Pope's speech in full, read the Satanic Verses or seen one of the Danish Cartoons. Are they really spoiling for an all out Jihad against other religions?

since 9/11 muslims have become obviously a lot more sensitive to critisism,but before then i think most people never talked about or noticed muslims or even cared,since that day 5 years ago the non muslims around the world seem to have stood up and questioned their beliefs,it seems bin ladens intentions are being realised

some one said in a paper a few months ago that islam is somewhere in the middle ages compared to christianity in that time period,i am not religious in any way and i don't know if this is right or wrong it just seems that us in the west have moved away from religion and become more secular, because we question everything about the world where as other parts of the world live rules cast in stone.

That makes a lot of sense when you consider the origins of those religions began in those countries where it is so entrenched in tradition that to question it is to be labelled blasphemous. The Christians enforced their faith through slaughter and torture off those who had no idea who Jesus Christ was and prided themselves on bringing the barbaric heathens to the heavenly bosom of God.

I was raised as a good christian lad well up until I was 12 years old when reading a lot I questioned my elders who preached the good book that if they were so damned christian why did they burn heretics and non believers at the stake and slaughter people and force them to believe in a relgion they knew nothing about? Hearing the self serving answers I thought yeah right. Its bullshit that smacks of double standards. Just because that is my belief I wouldnt assume others to feel the same

Christianity is as much to blame and as much to answer for its violent and bloody past so before we point the finger we should take a look at ourselves.

If you are not religious in anyway you would never begin to understand how anyone can have faith in what you dont know or understand.

The real reason why no one gives a hoot in the western world about religion is simply because we are wrapped up in our own selfish worlds of excess and capitalism. I'm not against it. I'm all for it. You could say that is my religion but then again its all I know growing up in the west and I will defend my own beliefs and way of life the same way as a Christian or Muslim would defend theirs.

To trash someones religion at the sake of a few extremists and blind faith fanatics is dismissive and ignorant unless you really know what you are talking about.

I've never really understood how Americans and Brits can be so God fearing and assume God is on their side when the very basis of those religions began in the middle east a place they are so intent in destroying to get their oil and revenge...Now that is a huge contradiction if ever I knew one.

Its all really fucked up.
