computer problem - log in screen

Post by johndoh »

i have a really annoying problem with my computer. when i start it up and it gets to the log in screen i.e the bit where you choose your name if you have more then one user on the computer. under my name it shows the number of e-mails which are unread that i have. it keeps annoying me and i want to get rid of this thing that shows me how many unread e-amils i have.

how do i do this?

Ditch outlook and use Hotmail for your emails. Then of course nothing will appear on that screen.... just a thought...

I have actually done this.....well moved my outlook onto an old PC which I use for official email work.....and use hotmail on my laptop. The hotmail account is then easy to access when abroad as well.

No, it should be the Emails from your MAIN Outlook Express/Pro Account you created in that program.

I ONLY ever used to have that program if I put my computer onto suspend or change account user.

If you check your emails, after you reboot your computer, you should NOT get that message.

Oh, b4 I forget, if inside Outlook you create a NEW FOLDER in the Program, rename to Unread Messages or something like that, download your messages and transfer them to that folder. Then when you next load up your computer/change over accounts, that should NOT happen. As far as my memory goes, that happens when the Outlook has UNREAD MESSAGES inside the Default Messages Folder "Inbox" when you Boot-Up, Shut-down/Change over Accounts, Windows does check your Outlook for unread messages, UNLESS you change certain prefs in your computer.

Dont ask me how you change them Prefs at the moment, I cant remember, but I might have a look into in tomorrow. I usually have anywhere tween 10-150 emails in my Inbox daily that I haven't finished reading, & mine doesnt ask/annouce.
