Even though we went out at the Early stages of the competition Everton at one point looked like they may miss out on the League Championship after finishing fourth, I remember a phone in where many Liverpool fans saying they should get Everton's place as Everton will not last in the competition.

I remember Man City got a place in Europe a couple of years back, that place should have gone to Everton but Man City picked it up even though City came lower because they picked up the fair play award, what a load of bollocks.

What annoys me the most is Everton have never been compensated at all for the truly awful events that took place in 1985. Everton won the cup winners cup, and because of the events at Heysel English teams were banned from taking part for a few years. Everton could not defend the trophy and that was criminal, I was in Rotterdam and Everton fans behaved themselves, yet we get punished. That has always stuck in my throat, we could have built up a little European heritage and that was taken away without any compensation or tribunal.

The worst thing about watching that game last night was the sycophantic adulation of the commentary team. Does Pleat still work for Spurs? Given his association with them if I was a Spurs fan i'd be upset - it's like Gary Neville wetting himself over a Liverpool side in 10 years time - it shouldn't happen. There's all manner of 'spin' at play, for example selling Patrick Vieira which earlier in the season was seen as the primary source of Arsenal's woes. Now it's great management by Wenger; it's even been reframed as Wenger's decision when as I remember it was Vieira's.

Arsenal get such an easy ride from the media and ITV expect everyone to put their rivalries aside for 90 minutes and join in the love. Sorry, it can't be done !

The rule has been changed so that if a club wins the European Cup and finishes outside of the qualifying places (i.e the top 4) and comes from a country that has 4 representatives then the 4th place team will be demoted into the Uefa Cup and the Euro Cup winners will defend their trophy.

So the long and short of it is that if Arsenal win it and don't finish in the top 4 then the 4th place team will be unlucky whoever that is.

The rule has been rightly changed and Uefa have admitted that they made a mistake as they never forsore a team finishing out of the top 4 winning it. It only happened to countries that had 4 representatives.

Oh and for the record, Liverpool were rightly put back in the comp this year. It was Uefa's fuck up and why should the winners be punished for that?

It was a great performance from Arsenal and they are already through in my book as I see Juventus having absolutely no chance of turning it around.

As good as Arsenal were though I have to say that Juventus were absolutely dreadful and I can't even remember the reigning (and future) Italian champions ever being as bad. Believe me they were bad against Liverpool last year but they were worse last night.

No fight, no heart, no pride or passion or committment to the cause. They were woeful and if someoone can tell me what use Adrian Mutu was then I'd like to hear it.

That said Arsenal could only beat the team in front of them and they exploited there weaknesses brilliantly. They have every chance of making the Final given the draw but I still think that they will fall a bit short but if you are gooner then it's likely to be a nice ride this spring.

Even Rushden & Diamonds could beat Juventus! What a poor display of footy from them!

Congrats to Arsenal!
