John Lennon "Working class hero"

Post by Arnold Layne »

Not really being a Lennon fan (although Imagine is arguably one of the greatest songs ever written) I bought this, and really enjoy it, especially the title track.

"This one's for my man "T"...
& it's called Wish you were here"

I consider him the only beatle that ever made a significant contribution to music in his post-beatle carreer. His last album was awfull, but preceding that he had classics like give me some truth, mother, isolation, I dont wanna be a soldier etc. The term genius is thrown about woefully often these days but Lennon truly was one, imo.

Plastic Ono Band is one of most raw and bleakly honest albums you will ever hear, sometimes its a hard listen to hear someone put all their demons onto a bit of black plastic from the sound of the bells on Mother to the last note of My Mummys Dead its an awesome piece of work.

Agree 100% Tone. "Sir Paul" has been incapable of doing anything of any interest without Lennon, yet for some reason is still seen as a megastar.

Two things about the song imagine.

Much of the idea of the words came from Yoko, although she had no writing
credit on the song.

And it has always annoyed me that on the video for Imagine he is
singing "Image no possessions" while walking round the huge house and
garden that he lived in.

I thought the programme was well done...I stayed the course & watched it through to the end. What a life he had...especially with 'mother'.
