Ong Bak also fave...

Post by lovemunkey187 »

I've done abit of digging and apparently this is not yet available with English subtitles yet although if you want a none subs version or possibly French dubbed version then one is available.

Also on the subject of martial arts films what do you reckon are the best cinematic fisticuffs?

One that I think ranks pretty highly is from the hugely overrated Matrix trilogy (Reloaded I think) between Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Seraph (Sing Ngai) in the tearoom/restaurant place.

Any others?

We got both kindsa music here. We got Country and Western

Ong Bak is available with english subs.
First Thai release didn't have any, second one does.

Wait a few more months and you'll see a 2 disc version from HKL/Premiere Asia.

As for best fights....any from Ong Bak.

Pagoda fights from Game of Death.

Jackie Chan vs Benny Urquidez in Wheels on Meals.

I wouldn't put Keanu anywhere in the top 10 myself.

Still.....Holden MacGroyn

BUT WITHOUT MY BRUCE LEE SIG BECAUSE HE'S TOO HARD FOR THIS PLACE...

The Sammo Hung fight in the restaurant in "Spooky Encounters" Is a good fight scene specially how Sammo moves considering his size. and in the same film the movement he shows as a Monkey God is super. as is Lam Ching-Ying when his hair falls out of his ponytail in the restaurant scene.

Others I like are the End fight in "The Young Master" and the great fight considred by many to be one of the greatest fight scenes Lam Ching-Ying dememstrating the "Wing Chun" style of fighting, great but in my opinion over with far to early.

And the fight scenes in "The Drunken Master" the great but underrated Hwang Jang Lee, very crisp movement. I really do love those period of Martial Arts films for me its the golden era of the Genre.

What did you think of "Oldboy" Holden?
Saw this Saturday night, superb film, altho the live Octopus eating scene will probably be cut over here? some fantastic rucks in this, the one with just one man, a hammer and a load of other guys is gripping!

I didn't say the Matrix one was top 10 worthy but I do think that it is superior to the other slapfests in the trilogy, and also superior to some in other MA flicks.

If you take into consideration that Keanu hasn't been learning one discipline or another since he was knee high to a gnats bollock unlike say Jackie, Samo, Jet.

Yeah I know what you mean about the squid scene in Oldboy (saw this at the pictures last year, as part of the UGC's asian season) it's a little gross. Isn't it?
