Tone can't afford to lose the incompetents from his cabinet (Hoon, Blunkett, Straw, Hewitt, Clarke, et al) since they are his incompetents and will support him when he is assailed by the dark forces of the enemy---ie Gordon Brown. They are yes men, nodding dogs, willing to go along with their master because no one else would give them the time of day.

Hoon should have gone for his "sorry, I'm on holiday" attitude early last year, or at the latest when Dr Kelly was hung out to dry. But no, his powerbase is much more important than any integrity he might once have posssessed.

Has anyone else heard rumours that Hoon is so heartily loathed by the forces that he avoids being in situations with serving personnel where it's possible he could be shot and then they claim it was an "accident?" Someone said this when he bobbed up on the box the other day weasel wording over too few troops no money and too much to do? Maybe it was a joke , or a deduction from looking at him ?
