I see a Macquarie Dictionary of Australian English been published. Fascinating stuff.
But Melvyn Bragg seems to think Macquarie's pronounced as in Lou MACARI, the erstwhile footballer, while I always thought it was like McQuarry.....over to the Ozzperts.........who's the no-brain dag?
