credit card companies should refuse to process payments to porn sites that don't verify user's ages. Since the only site referred to in that report is 'pornhub' ie a tube site which requires no payment as far as i know then how the assistance of credit card compnaies in not processing payments would prevent kids from viewing it isn't fully explained.

a far simpler tactic would be to get isp's to block the tube sites in the same way as they have started blocking torrent sites.

i'd also like to know how they monitored internet usage to get their statistics. A child simply being in the same household as a computer which has accessed pornography does not mean that they are they ones who have viewed it.

and the report on the bbc news about five minutes ago was equally laughable. An 'internet security' class which had approximately 12 attendees is passed off as a barometer of opinion and then followed up by someone from atvod who to quote "if someone under 18 entered a licensed shop they would be turfed out let alone allowed to buy a dvd" which in itself opens up a whole other argument. If they are so confident about the ability of licensed premises to police their customers why do they need licenses, why are they not allowed to open shops wherever they please, open at the hours they want etc.

Poor old Pete Johnson. He left the BBFC as DVDs were dying so his financial future was in doubt and decided to go where the big money was - adult paysites.

Little did he know the glory days were long gone and the free (tube) sites had taken over with endless paysites shutting or desperately trying to be sold off cheap.

With that, hes had to push the rules further and further to get his personal commission from everyone who joins ATVOD and even if every 'paysite' joined, the difference would be negligible with amount of free stuff out there.

How is he going to police and the tube sites, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr etc?
If payments are blocked, just watch Bitcoin get much bigger.

clearly atvod believes that there are more under 18's using credit/debit cards to access paysites then there are under 18's simply typing the words free porn into google and accessing the free tube sites without any need for any kind of card.

Its a well documented fact on the BBC that young people ridicule anyone who pays for porn when they know who to get it free.

The tube sites are the obvious port of choice but they also know that with the tube sites gone they can download it from the many file sharing sites that will pop up in its wake

As for those statistics quoted? It wouldnt surprise me if they fudge the figures to suit their agenda. M100 makes some very good points there

i know we've said it before but if you go to a mainstream pay-porn site like terry's, like reality kings, brazzers etc then you know that all participants will have performed consensually and be over the age of 18. Would you be that confident on a free tube site, no? and yet atvod don't seem to be concerned by that.
