I think it used to be said if you get 2-3 years out of a UK porn actress thats good going but i'm sure few of todays ones will last that long. So why can some of the top USA and European ones keep going, is there something in their makeup that allows them to keep going or is it just the case that in the states and rest of europe there is more work and money in it. not only do a lot of american/european ones keep going, many are top class , look at this lot of the top of me head from USA still active all done 10 years or more, lisa ann, julia ann, michelle lay, jenna haze,jesse jane,alana evans, eva angelina, nina hartley

but you'll see some of the UK girls coming through go on for ages. They are facebooking and twitter and building direct fan relationships from the get go.

If a girl wants to spend her whole life doing this she could easily and make more money than if she was to do a regular job. Even in lean times.

Girls mainly quit because of reasons external to the adult industy. Love. Children. Marriage. Some even se it as sad to be in it for too long which i find strange but everyone has their own agenda with what they want from this business and some hit that target and simply move on.

The ones that dont last long are usually those who never liked it in the first place. They just figured it would be easy money but as anyone in this business can attest, there are times when this business can be bloody well hard work too.

I think a lot of the girls try it out then get bored. How many of us were shag happy in our teens or twenties then found the right person and realised a relationship has more substance than pure sex? I imagine some girls do it for the cash then realise it isn't that regular a job? Talked to a few of the girls and they made sense some come in and make a bit of money then realise just what an effect it has - they get recognised and start to feel uneasy - the UK is a small country and has a different mindset to the states or even europe so if not made out for it they tend to give up.

Well simple answer is that the adult business here is minuscule compared to the US and thus there simply isn't as many opportunities to earn from it. Thus once a girl has been to all the producers here maybe even 5 or 6 times, they may find that they might not get invited back. This is no fault of their own it's just that the business worldwide revolves around new girls and always will. Girls here (well 90% of them) HAVE to do the other type of work or/and these awful phone channels to make a living. Relying on porn will not make them a living.

While there is a lotof truth in what you say Dave it doesnt ring true all the time. There are a bunch of girls who have made a decent wedge without doing the other work that dare not speak its name here.

I think Adult Work is what empowers women to make their own money these days and the only reason I can see girls crossing over to do the porn is to up their profile that they do movies too just to stay ahead of the rest of the AW crowd.

Its just the way it is. AW proves there is still a shed load of money people are willing to pay. Theyve just migrated fromthe traditional DVD and remote control for instant live and direct interactive wanks with girls that actually talk back to them and I htink this business model is going to be with us for quite a while.

Problem is not the girls. It's the guys.

Having made our migration into the UK to re-shoot a cross section of the UK's female models we've noticed how most of their relationships haven't survived.

It goes like this: Girl meets guy. Guy is 'cool' with girl doing porn. Mates tease guy. Girl earns more than guy. Guy dumps girl.

It's a fact that Brits are much more prudish. This makes long term relationships between an adult worker and a vanilla person complicated.

Having lived in the UK, mainland Europe, the US and now asia, the UK lags behind in it's conservative and dickensian attitudes.

It's only bits and bobs but obviously to some guys it's a case of 'not in my neighbourhood'.
