In April, after over 3 years of an increasing number of repeats, schedules nothing like shown on the SKY EPG and the availability of better content on the Net, I cancelled my TVX subscription by registered post with a cancellation date 6 weeks from the date of the letter.
Lo and behold, my credit card was charged in June for June - July. I obtained a P O D from the Royal Mail for the registered letter and sent all the details to the credit card company. A refund was arranged.
I've just had my bill for July. There, large as life, is yet another charge from Portland Enterprises (TVX).
On contacting the credit card company again they told me that, given the process is automated, they have to charge the card and I will have to apply for credit each month.
As far as I'm concerned, given the subscription was cancelled and a signature received for the letter, the charge appearing on my card is THEFT. No doubt the credit card company will get sick of my calls in time and do something about the situation but, until they do or the people at Portland Enterprises stop stealing from my credit card company, I will have to spend time ringing for the credit each month, and pay the figure on the card statement as the credit cannot be deducted until the following month's statement.
Thank you Portland Enterprises. Presumably you wish to give the adult industry a bad name.
I STRONGLY SUGGEST anyone tempted to join TVX thinks very hard before giving them a credit card number which they will take as a licence to print money in perpetuity.

Ring 08705 220 220. That's their call centre.
They did the same with me - they said 'Oh yes we've taken payment, but we didn't get the letter that came with the cheque.'
Given that I'd sent them a cheque in my girlfriend's name it amazes me that they were able to link her cheque with my subscription details without reading the letter.
I pointed this out and then I got quite annoyed with them. After a few mins of me demanding they cancel the subscription, they did with immediate effect.

I'd love to stay and chat but you're a total bitch.

Thanks for the number Stewie Just phoned them and spoke to an operator who tells me that, regardless of the fact that our only correspondence has been with Portland Enterprises, that Portland Enterprises bill us under an account number consisting of 12 digits and that the letter from Portland gives details of how to close the account, which we have followed to the letter, our account is really with TVX, we have a 6 digit account number and Portland are an agency - all cancellations have to go to TVX!!.
I pointed out to the guy that a letter to their billing agents as the only contactpoint we have, in law, is the same as a letter to TVX. He denied this. When asked for a Director's name to write to, he refused this - contrary to UK and European company law.
He told me I could email in a cancellation which would take effect in 30 days time.
DON'T TOUCH THESE PEOPLE WITH A BARGE POLE.
I have, of course, emailed them and will be taking this up with OFCOM.

Get onto you credit card company and tell them that you have not authorised the charge and can prove that this has been cancelled and therefore this is theft. If they don't play ball, tell them you will simply used another card provider and transfer the balance to a new card and you will involve the Financial Ombudsman Service and make a complaint against them.
Very important - keep all correspondence and make a log of all calls (when, what time etc.) and make sure you get a name of who you have talked to.

Done all of that. Credit card company are co-operating and will credit back any charges.
Had an email from TVX overnight stating the account will close on August 29th. Letter to TVX CEO going off today copy to SKY and OFCOM.

A total rip-off as you, and many others, have found out!!
Which credit card payment provider did you use? CCbill or Paycom, or someone else.
Didn't you have the option to cancel the rebill facility - if one was available?

I think the short humourous clip below gives quite a good overview of the mentality of the sex retail trade including the TV Stations. They're still stuck in the 1970's, where they think we'll buy anything and everything they offer.
