I subscribed to an adult channel by mistake! Help!

OK - last weekend I was at a friends house and while he was out for a while I flicked through his Sky TV.

I got to channel 985 and 986, I think, and they were Playboy TV and the Adult Channel.

Just for fun I pressed the select button as it said on the blue screen. It gave me a 'Reminder Menu' where it stated the price ?5.99 and to press select for the next step.

I pressed select again, and expecting it to ask for my credit card details or some kind of PIN or at least for the phone line from the Sky box to be connected to the phone line, it connected me to the channel immediately! The shows were definately the ones advertised - not the Freeview!

I was shocked as I thought it should have asked for my payment details or at least a PIN!

How on earth did it allow me to just subscribe by pressing 'select' twice?! Could it be that the channel had already been subscribed to by him and that the PIN was already stored somewhere, requiring only the select button??

Or have I done a fresh subscription just by pressing 'select' twice?? Surely not!

Can someone please help me as I need to understand how this could have happened so easily!

i don't think you have subscribed to the channel, i think it works the same as box office in that you have only paid for that one nights viewing. Your friend must have dissabled the pin function completely in the settings. He will get a bill for that one night ontop of his normal monthly package

That's the reason they are banned from showing R18 ... and rightly too. I'm looking forward to the day these joke channels go off the air completely, because if nothing else they're ripping people off substantially. ?5.99 a night or ?2186 for a year .... where as you can get a 5 channel 24 hour xxx card for the Euro channels for under ?90 ... and that will last a year. Plus you can take the card out of the box when not in use, thus stopping unauthorised access.
