I received the attached e-mail today concerning an expenses paid trip to Ireland for a ?female porn star?. It appears genuine, although I can?t vouch for the person who sent this.

Dear Sir or Madam:

On Thursday, January 13 of next year, the University College Dublin Law Society will host a public debate on the motion ?This house believes porn causes more pleasure than pain?. We would be grateful if you might know of a female porn star that would be willing to accept this invitation to be a special guest speaker at the debate.

We feel that she would be a most welcome guest in the UCD Law Society. The issues surrounding the pornography industry have become increasing controversial. There are many areas of concern among people. Firstly, it is believed that some who get involved in the business do out of a financial need rather than a legitimate choice. Others say that the industry is extremely damaging to the way in which women are perceived. The argument is made that porn encourages men to view women as mere sex objects rather than real people. It is quite clear that there are many arguments to be made on both sides, which means that it promises to be an extremely lively and enjoyable debate.

The UCD Law Society is one of the oldest and largest undergraduate debating unions in Europe. Established in 1911, the Society has over 3200 members drawn from the various faculties of the University. Weekly Thursday night debates during term are our core activity. Individuals who have addressed the Society in the recent past include President of Ireland Mary McAleese, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, sports personalities, John Motson, DJ Carey and the Irish international soccer manager Brian Kerr, An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, the Minister for Justice Michael McDowell, the Lord of the Dance, Michael Flatly, Hollywood Legend, Mickey Rooney, and the voice of Mr. Burns from the hit TV show ?The Simpsons? Harry Shearer.

That rings a bell with me - surely there was a similar event at a Dublin uni a few years ago. Are they being unoriginal or is something fishy going on? If anyone takes them up on this then a bell to the UCD authorities to check its kosher is definitely in order...

Now that would be fun. But not this time. I am looking forward to the visit, I have not been to ireland for at least six years. Last time i was there was to strip on st patricks day, th people that booked me took me out all day on the piss and we had to cancel my act as it was laying half naked covered in siclk on the nightclub table before it got to ten oclock. But I was told as they dropped me to the airport that we all had a great time.
