Legality running commercial hardcore site in UK??

Hi folks,

Does anyone know about the legality of running a hardcore porn site from the UK? The site would be hosted in the UK and would be a commercial proposition.

Is this sort of thing legal? Are there limits and guidelines?

Any help would be greatly welcome.

Uk hosts don't accept porn !!

Host in the States as it's a lot cheaper than in the EU.

You'll have no problem running a hardcore site from a UK base as long as your content does not deprave or corrupt as per the OPA.

That is not really your problem. The problem is in the second part of the question namely would the site be commerically viable.

There are thousands of porn sites across the web and finding traffic would be the problem. Even if you had a niche you would still have to invest money in traffic building.

My suggestion would be that you share with this forum your idea in a bit more detail so that the forum members could offer advice as to whether your content would be worth paying for.

I'd also suggest that you run a search on this forum for matters dealing with what is and is not legal as this has been discussed many times.

Name a UK host that accepts adult sites ... I'm sure a lot of people here would like to know of one, that allows hardcore... Most don't even allow topless and again the cost is a lot higher than in the States !!!

I don't see that the hosting of the site is a major problem here and that's why I didn't answer that part of the question.

I would agree that a host in the USA would be better than a UK host as the bandwidth is cheaper but if the uploading is taking place in the UK then that is considered under UK law as publishing so the OPA would still be a problem.

The two points I considered in my answer were the OPA and the viability of anothe porn site.

I'm surprised they allow adult as I know a few real, not just on line, model agencies who've had to move from UK to US hosts because they had topless pics of the models.. And nothing harder.

Maybe they're getting easier over here now..
